Koh Phangan road works

Just to make visitors to KP aware for the foreseeable future:

Road from Tongsala towards Haad Rin, has various oblong holes in the road, the reason was not obvious... at least sign spelling better than Samui!

The middle road, up from Tesco, is under major renewal and reconstruction currently about 1/2 way up the road, toward Mae Haad/ Chaloklum .... at present finishes just before turn to Haad Salad.

Best to use with the coast road, then up to the main road from Haad Salad (quite windy and hilly in spots) or the road from Tongsala to Chaloklum road, (distance wise there is not s lot of difference) especially for inexperienced bike riders.

It's very sandy and slippery in sections... and heavy machinery working...

Looks like it will be much wider than before, especially good for all the heavy traffic...

Thongsala - Haad Rin road works are to fix some of the worst pieces of road surface, this has been going on in places for the last month or so. the earlier works covered whole slabs of concrete so it was a bit more obvious, now it is just smaller strips.

Note that the Baan Tai - Thong Nai Pan road is also being reconstructed (well the first big hill anyway) 2/3rds has now been repaved (with work continuing on the drains) the top section is currently unpaved and getting quite dry so take care with loose sand.
