Police inspect Songkran venue in Silom

BANGKOK, 12 April 2016 (NNT) – Top officials from the Royal Thai Police have inspected the orderliness of a popular Songkran venue at Silom Road, assimilating personnel from the police force with the military to ensure maximum safety and security.

The Acting Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn has observed the preparations and orderliness of a popular Songkran celebration venue in Silom Road, Bangkok, before the festivities begin.

He has said about 430 officers will be stationed at this venue in cooperation with military officials and district officials, assuring that the officials are well prepared to handle this situation due to their experience from events in previous years.

This inspection from the police came after the inspection of the EOD unit yesterday, surveying for any placement of suspicious items or explosives.

The general public and tourists are prohibited from carrying weapons and consuming alcohol at the venue, as well as the use of talcum powder and high-pressure water guns. Inappropriate behavior and nudity will also be regulated, as offenders will be punished according to the law.

The Royal Thai Police is also in charge of maintaining security at other 13 Songkran venues in Bangkok through the deployment of 8,000 officers, along with enforcing strict laws targeting drunk drivers who will have their vehicle confiscated and may face driver’s license revocation. These strict regulations have been enacted according to the NCPO’s order.

Songkran celebrations at Silom Road will be taking place on 13-14 April 2016 from 10 a.m to 12 a.m. Traffic will be closed from Sala Daeng Intersection to Narathiwat Intersection. Water trucks and vehicles equipped with high volume speakers will not be allowed to enter the venue.

assimilating personnel from the police force with the military

Yes, RTP has been assimilated by the Borg Prayut military. They are now part of the NCPO Collective.

Maybe they meant augmented but that's not as fun.

Well in Onnut road some thai drug crazed or drunk teens been racing occasionally every few hours since last night on very loud bikes but it's like this every year at songkran, maybe dear police can have a look as well it looks kinda scary how they go fast between innocent cars without any headlight, it's just totally reckless. The funny thing, says it all others looking it very enjoying from the flyovers, guess they waiting for them to fail or its just the adrenaline chase, i have no idea but things like this never ends well... whistling.gifcoffee1.gif
