BANGKOK: The majority of people said they agreed with the idea of amending the Election Law that will impose a fine of up to 20 million baht for election fraud, and a 100,000 baht award for people giving information on election frauds.

This was the result of the latest survey conducted by Dr Noppadol Kannika, chairman of the so-called Academic Research for Community Happiness, or known as Super Poll.

Super Poll said it asked opinions from 6,157 eligible voters in 15 provinces during April 1-15 about their reactions over amendment of the election law.

The result showed that 75.2% of them agreeing with the proposed imposition of 20 million baht for election fraud, while % 24.8 disagreeing.

It said of those agreeing with the fine, 79.3% of them are supporters of the Government, and 31.9% are dissidents to government.

Those silent force or 75.7% agreed with the fine and award, it added.

20,000,000 is a small amount of money, sure it sounds

large enough to most Thais, pay off's and potential benefit's

far exceed the 20m

just ask khun Taksin,

20 years monkey house if they really want to get serious,

Which can be used to pay off a defamation suit, since guilt plays no part in rendering a decision in such cases. That is, of course, if the person providing that information doesn't accidentally die in the first place.

I don't see any mention of possible jail time.

For parties and some individuals a Bt 20 Million fine is a minor inconvenience if a fine, even the maximum, is actually ever imposed.

All these things are 'potentially' good ideas but are completely worthless until those agencies tasked with investigating and penalizing these issues have the trust of the public to carry out their jobs properly and without favour.

Until then it just becomes another political tool to penalize opponents.

A Super Poll indeed.

79.3 + 31.9 = 111.2%

How about a fine for people involved in illegal coups?

How about a fine for the nutters that still believe PTP to be honest in government and the government never did wrong, and a fine for a PM every time they never turned up for meetings etc.cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

What about some jail time instead! Oh, I forget, by the time the lite sentence is cut in half for confessing, good behavior, and a maybe some kind of pardon or further sentence reduction the person would be out within a few months. OK, stick with just a fine which will probably never be paid...be tied up/appealed in the courts until everyone forgot about it.

Or a fine for nutters that feel the need to leap up and down and chant PTP or Thaksin inanely in every thread.

Offering a "reward" for reporters of election fraud could cause absolute chaos.....everyone would be reporting fraud for the reward!

None of that is illegal, but coups are. Please tell me your grip on reality is such that you at least understand that!

So much better than farang polls, which only go up to 100.

It's like the 11 on the amp in "This is Spinal Tap"

Fine for election fraud?

How about a 500 billion baht fine for overthrow of an elected government for which there can be no amensty except by public referendum?

Fines again?

This is so lame. If they’re really serious, then the.... ultimate....sanction is called for.

It's all a fuss over nothing, corruption in elections works like this, people get paid, then they vote for somebody else anyway

WOW with a fine like that and the added carrot of a reward to turn people in it sure looks like a set up to me. No person worth their political salt especially the average person will want to participate in the electoral process.

Fine? No. How about a treason charge, followed by an execution for those who lead a coup (basic definition: all coups are illegal)

Agree that jail time for those involved in election fraud is necessary, not just a fine.

Are there legal coups?

Name one that's been legal in Thailand, omitting the student revolution that over threw a Junta , a legal coup would be one that is sanctioned by the people.

I would be fine with that...if there were treason charges for absent Pms that declared war on their own country. The black shirt militia providing "security" in Bangkok comes to mind. I can supply a video of the black shirts firing at regular soldiers if you wish.

Yes please, and also the evidence of who they were and also who organized them.

As requested

Pretty obvious which side they were on, and I can supply video of Thaksin calling the red shirts his brothers and sisters, telling them that he will personally lead them through the streets of Bangkok. That never happened of course, which makes him a liar as well as a traitor.
About time you got a grip on reality pal. No govt of the free world is going to return a fugitive to a junta controlled country. Also, he was democratically elected.

Don't you think that taking over govt by force has to be the biggest election fraud imaginable?

Thaksin has not been here for NINE years yet still you obscenely OBSESS

which makes you a retrospective obsessive and deluded obfuscator of truth
