The very definition of show boating tokenism.

Interesting he only took some with rock sold PAPERWORK.

That's not very revolutionary.

It would have been a real statement to take 1000 without papers.

If people are legit war refugees, how is it reasonable to expect they all have solid papers?

If the Pope had taken 1,000 refugees where would they have lived? In the Vatican state.city which is ONLY 110 acres in size?

The current population of the Vatican is estimated at only 845 people before refugees?

Try doing a little research before you post.

For example

I looked at the relative size of the Vatican and Saudi Arabia and came up with this information.

The problem with the Vatican city/state is that it only has a physical area of 110 acres and a population of 842 people.

If you add 12 more people the total population goes up by 1.5%.

It becomes very difficult to take many people in an area and a population of that size.

OTOH Saudi Arabia has an area of 2,149,640 sq/km and a total population of 30,770775 people giving a density of 12.3 persons per sq/km.

They have a similar religion and eat similar food and is far richer than the Vatican.

Why doesn't Saudi take in 1 or 2 million refugees?

If you were to add in the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain along with the other Gulf states (except Iran) different religion then there would be no problem.

Why are you whinging about the Vatican only taking 12 refugees?

Ask yourself why AREN'T the Arab Gulf states taking any refugees?

Another good question to ask is why do all the refugees want to go to Europe and not to the Arab states who are their religious brothers and sisters?
