BritTim
Compared to the buses, Thai trains are safe. One of the advantages of their slow speeds is that the very occasional derailments do not seem to result in fatalities.
ubonjoe
Thank you all for all the help! Couldn't have done it without y'all. If there is a word that's "easier" than breeze, I would use it, because getting through immigration was an absolute breeze. She just looked through, stamp, stamp, stamp, and handed me over my passport. If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer... Looking forward to this 12 hr train ride Glad if all worked out.. Having a visa for entry makes a big difference. A bit late but I have done the 2nd class sleeper sevtal times back and forth between here and Bangkok.. The train does tend to wobble and shake at times.
