webfact
Phra Dhamachayo claims serious sickness for his failure to report to the DSIBANGKOK: -- Phra Dhamachayo could not travel to the Department of Special Investigation to acknowledge the charges against him on Monday because he was experiencing serious illness from several diseases, so said Wat Dhammakaya and his doctors. The temple’s public relations office and doctors of Phra Dhamachayo issued a statement through its Facebook page explaining the reason why the embattled abbot of Wat Dhammakaya failed to show up to acknowledge the charges as demanded by the enquiry officers of the DSI.Phra Dhamachayo is facing charges of money laundering and receiving stolen properties.Phra Sanitwong Wutthiwaso, director of the PR office, said in the statement that Phra Dhammachayo suffered severe headache since last Friday making him unable to balance himself properly and he also suffered back and left leg pains as a result of inflammation of the muscles. Also, he claimed that the embattled abbot suffered serious ailments from diabetes, blood clot on the left leg and infectious wounds on his feet. He added that doctors had advised the abbot to take a rest and to suspend all activities for 15 days.Phra Sanitwong sought justice from the DSI for Phra Dhammachayo’s failure to show up and for the postponement of the appointment. He defended that the abbot did not intentionally skip the appointment with the DSI.Meanwhile, Dr Chuchai Pornpattanapan, one of the doctors, said the abbot had been sick since last Friday but the condition worsened on Sunday evening as he suffered from serious headache and pains on his back and legs.Full story: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/160976 -- Thai PBS 2016-04-
Merylhighground
Phra Dhamachayo could not travel to the Department of Special Investigation to acknowledge the charges against him on Monday because he was experiencing serious illness from several diseases, It's called ''shyting himself'' is this illness, now he has to face his crimes and see his empire crumble. maybe they can find a space for him in Thailand's rest room for the 'poorly as they cower from justice' AKA in Malaysia with the Red Bull heir.... colinneil
What is wrong with DSI chiefs? They scared or what, stop messing about arrest the scumbag. Every time he will think of an excuse, probably waiting for his private helicopter. Playing for time to salt away his ill gotten gains.
canuckamuck
Of course having some one pick up a phone and say he is not able to appear is simply not done here. The standard method is to make excuses later.

henry15
The DSI should send an ambulance and take him to the ER of the Police hospital, for a check up.. and take him in custody.
sweatalot
The DSI should send an ambulance and take him to the ER of the Police hospital, for a check up.. and take him in custody. what do they with an injured criminal (e.g. after being shot by police?) They arrest him and take him to the police hospital. It is beyond me why they do not do the same with this -sorry, I have to say - lying cowardly scumbag ? Arrest him take him to the police hospital let him be checked by neutral doctors and arrest him until his health allows his questioning btw he need not be healthy just being able to answer some questions is enough DSI seriously has to act in order to keep face (and justice) Edited April 26, 2016 by sweatalot

Srikcir
he suffered serious ailments from diabetes, blood clot on the left leg and infectious wounds on his feet. Seriously, the abbot belongs in a hospital and not in a wat. His doctor should be charged with malfeasance and his staff for negligence endangering the abbot's health. The military should invoke Article 44 to deliver the abbot to a proper facility for emergency lifegiving care! I fear for this abbot's wellbeing. Mixed with the impasse involving the Supreme Patriarch, this become toxic brew and perceived as a fierce color coded confrontation. It may spilled out of hand and evoke the feelings of the saffron of both sides. The junta government should not have allowed this to simmer this long and should have dealt with this on the first instance. Now they have a tiger on their back and will be hard for them to dismount. They probably play the delay game till the next government.
