Hi....I am struggling to buy my medication for Ulcerative Colitis, such as:-

Mesacol 400mg tablets (preferred as cheaper)
Pentasa 500mg tablets (preferred as cheaper)
Salofalk 500mg tablets

I have been round several pharmacies in Pattaya including Fascino and they could only order Salofalk at 4,600 baht for 1 box !!

I also tried Pharmaland who haven't been able to order any of the above :(

Anyone else order these types of meds, and if so where from ?

Thanks for your help

I suggest you call the distributor of Mesacol and ask them what pharmacies in your area they have supplied to. Alternatively, if you are willing to go to Bangkok and purchase say a year's supply at a time, they might be willing to sell to you directly, in which case you get the wholesale price.

Thank Sheryl, but I've already spoken to Pharmaland and set up an account with them for delivery directly to me.

They will only ship 3 boxes at a time to a customer.

They then informed me, a day later, they have no stock and unlikely to be getting any more. I do not know why. I enquired about similar products but they have nothing :-(

Any other ideas guys?

Thanks

Thanks again Sheryl, unfortunately I got nowhere with Zuellig.

They have a phone system that only occasionally connects you to the operator. I managed to get through a couple of times only to be cut off when being connected. Finally managed to speak to someone who said they distribute only and on transferring me to someone who may know where they distribute too they cut me off again.

Any other ideas as I really don't want to go to a hospital around Pattaya as pricing will be crazy.....do you think government hospitals will be able to sourse one of these meds ? If so I will pop into Phetchabun in a week or two.

Thanks

Only a really, really large government hospital, like those in Bkk or possibly a regional level facility. Certainly not in Petchabun.

The problem is that UC is rare in Thais.

Best advise I can give is to persist with Zuellig, including perhaps going in person if you have occasion to go to Bangkok. That or find a pharmacy willing to order the Pentasa for you.

Quick update:

I found Zuellig Pharma impossible to deal with on the phone. Many calls and cut off many times after being transferred around. I wasn't able to go there in person as I have been busy moving to another part of the country.

Pharmaland finally managed to source Mesacol for me, it did take a couple of weeks though. They were polite, immediate responses and in good English if your Thai isn't great. I have already setup the next batch with them and they will pre-order to make sure it is in stock when I require it.

Cheers,
