Respecting Opinions.

Featured Replies

I have always said over the years while posting on Thaivisa, that I will always respect other posters opinions even if I don't agree with them. That has now changed, over the last few weeks I have come across two very inconsiderate posters whose opinions I just cannot respect, if they read this they will know who they are.

Poster 1. He admits to riding his motorbike on the pavements, weaving in and out around pedestrians, and thinks it is OK to do so.

Poster 2. He thinks it is fun to throw water over motorcyclists riding along the road at Songkran.

I believe that even if you disagree with a posters opinion, you should always support his/her right to voice that opinion.

Does any of these two posters deserve to have their opinions respected regarding these two instances? Your thoughts.

Respecting ones right to an opinion is totally different to respecting their opinion. It's called disagreeing

Yes. nothing wrong with disagreeing with an opinion, but the question is, can you respect the opinions

in any of these two cases?

You obviously disagree quite strongly with these posters so how can you respect their opinion?

That's just it. I do not respect their opinions, I am just saying I made a play of always respecting posters opinions even if I did not agree with them, but

in these two cases I just can't, so now I cannot say any more that I will always respect peoples opinions, because I can't.

How do you respect an opinion, anyway? Especially whilst simultaneously disagreeing with it.

I think this thread is nonsense. But I respect your right to post it anyway.

and I respect your right to take part in it even if you think it is nonsense.

Were you offended? If yes, stop visiting this forum?

With (lack of) original posts, such as these-we can only pray this comes true.

*Imagining I am sitting in a public place and someone comes at me with this dribble*

I think the word is often misused. Respect means hold in high regard / admire so it is a 'No' from me.

Who are you referring to here, can you please explain?

My opinion on ( poster 1.) ..Is, it's an ignorant thing to do.

" " " ( poster 2.) ..Is. the motorbike rider would expect it to happen.
