webfact
New student group asks CSD to probe motive of Ja New’s activist groupBANGKOK: -- A new rival student group emerged today when it filed a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) seeking its hand to probe into the motive of the New Democracy Movement in waging anti-government activities currently. The new group calls itself “We Love the Nation”.The group leader Chatches Songsee told CSD that the students were skeptical of the current movement of “Ja New” or Siriwich Serithiwat, leader of the New Democracy Movement, and suspected he was financially backed to campaign against the government. He said they wanted the CSD to find out the hidden motive of the group and made it clear to the public who is or are behind his movements.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/161864 -- Thai PBS 2016-05-

Khun Han
I used to love reading comic magazines such as The Beano when I was growing up in the UK. I still feel a tinge of regret that I grew up and saw through the hollow stories in in those comics. When will Thailand grow up?

Seriously mate, com'on man, OK well we will go down that beaten up road yet again, the boogie man in the Dubai, so in fairness and consistency one could also call for an investigation on the financial backing of this group, now who could that be??? Sauce for the goose So now tit for tat in over with, is it not a fair thing that there simply are students out there that do take interest in the country's politics and not just paid stooges? Holy Cinema
This "new" group has only just decided to speak up now? ummmm okay. The old geezer in the picture looks very much like a "military man".I wonder if he was from the same group of protestors who blocked the train going to the park to view the statues?both sides are ramping up their rhetoric now, an Army scared of opinions, and students not afraid to give them. I also count at least 6 people in that picture, which is a breach of the law..... no arrests or attitude adjustments for them then?

You really think he's not being financed? That's naive in the extreme. I don't recall mentioning the fugitive criminal in my post though. I wasn't referring to him at all. But I don't think this ja new is doing this on his own. He has backers. I'm not saying what he's doing is wrong but I'm not dumb enough to believe he is free from certain influences/friends and financiers. Also I expressed no support for this new group either, I merely acknowledged the truth in the post [#4} above mine. Reds are delusional to think that Ja New is not supported financially by the reds or PTP. This other group is probably also not without backing. I stated it before normal people are not protesting right now because its too risky the government will put protesters in jail. So without some serious financial incentive nobody will protest. If I was wrong we would have seen mass protests already. Only those who stand to gain protests. An example of how someone can rise by protesting is Jattuporn. He got rewarded quite well after the protests. These two groups are just proxies.
Holy Cinema
When will you student bashers get it into your head that these student have more rights to have opinions than you, they are the countries future whether you like it or not ?I really am curious as to the change in the quality of your life you seem to have suffered under the Shins, it must have been horrendous for your endless complaining. dageurreotype
The new group calls itself “We Love the Nation”. The implication being that those who oppose them, don't. Srikcir
This complaint may backfire. If CSD does indeed diligently investigate the allegations, I expect their first action will be to request from Prayut the confidential evidence he has provingThaksin (or anyone else from PTP) is financing New Democracy protests. Lacking such evidence and not independently finding any evidence will vindicate New Democracy - something that will not please Prayut.

I can assure you that Thais do not necessarily avoid protesting because it is too risky.Anyone here in the 1970's or 1980's can tell you that.Mass protests happen when government repression becomes unendurable and we haven't yet reached that stage - though we are sadly going down that path. Equally importantly the majority always follows a brave few in these matters.I well remember in 1976 the Bangkok middle class was mostly on the side of the fascists and the expatriate community- though significantly more upmarket and better educated than the current bunch - had much the same view. Nope, just not blinded by choosing sides. A pointless activity when you consider both sides are the same. Which you should realise by now, it will never change, it's been like this for a long time, and it will be like this for a long time to come. Have you noticed that the Military coups were never staged for and on behalf of the people? They're staged to protect the interests of a dying breed of dinosaurs and more so to protect themselves from becoming answerable to the people, and answerable to whatever Government is in office at the time. About the backing of the Ja Group : I don't know how you were when you were student, but I participated in a lot of strikes and I wasn't backed by anything except my ideas and willing of changes...but for some here it seems the freedom of speech means nothing for thai students! Indeed normal Thai people don't protest, as I told you a few days ago already that 99% of the Thai population are sheeple and that is what the elite relies on, but may Ja New belongs to the 1% that stand up for their rights. And of course he is backed, every organisation in the world is backed by something or someone, otherwise they wouldn't be an organisation.
klauskunkel
Hot on the heels of the new "We Love the Nation" student group, an even newer student group emerged called "We love the Nation even more Kumbaya all and everyone rak rak maak maak" questioning the funding for the former group: "We just don't believe that 'We love the Nation" group regularly wins the lottery,...on the other hand, the lottery is controlled by the government,....hmmm"

I bet you and the "we love the Junta, daddy, Nation" can't believe they have free will Agree. I was involved in civil rights demonstrations (with my Dad), and a few anti- war protests as a college student. The organizations were run on " shoestring" budgets, and 99.9% of the participants were volunteers, mostly fueled by their passion for a cause. Humans are largely the same everywhere. Some people will sacrifice their well being and risk arrest for the sake of their beliefs. The trope that everyone is just in it for the money is factually wrong, and a sad indicator of a bankrupt philosophy of human endeavour.

sjaak327
Wonder who is behind this new 'rival' student group. Maybe Suthep or the mad monk, or even the NCPO. However apart from the above, those student don't really look smart, the motives for the anti government actions and protests are pretty clear, and anyone supporting democracy should get behind those actions and protests.
