Dubai visa for Thai, travelling Thai Airways

Featured Replies

My girlfriend and I are planning a few days in Dubai next month and are wondering about obtaining a visa for her.

I'm aware that Emirates will sponsor her visa but we're planning to travel with Thai, as they're considerably cheaper.

Has anybody got recent experience of obtaining such a visa, she has many years of travel to Europe, including a current UK visa.

Thanks very much

As I understand a Thai person not using the Emirates, or Etihad, service requires a person in UAE to act on behalf as a sponsor to arrange a visa for them, the sponsor can be any legal entity such as Hotels, business partners, organizers, friends, relative, Companies, Travel Agencies, schools or Universities in UAE.

What she need is to send a copy of her passport to the sponsor and let them liaise through Ministry of Interior in UAE. Once the processing is approved by the authority, they will fax the visa copy to her and then she can travel to UAE with that letter.

I believe that some travel agents in Bangkok and Dubai would do it for her, the last time I looked they were asking about 5,000 Baht.

I also believe that Thai people have to lodge a security deposit of US$200 in addition to the cost of the visa application, this is returned after the person leaves the UAE.
