Wonderful ban chang where you can sit outside your house at night and smell the exotic aromas of people burning their rubbish because it's easier than walking 5 metres to the bins tat are emptied every day.

There are so many things good things about Thailand and its culture, but I've yet to understand Thai's apparent fondness for playing music loud enough until the sound distorts, the smell of burning plastic, and leaving picnic garbage (i.e. styro boxes and plastic bags) at the lovely beach or other place they've chosen for their outing. I guess the latter is some kind of gift to the land that I'll never understand.

^Maybe they don't think they've had a proper day out unless they've deposited their own body-weight in garbage on the beach? Might even be a TAT-sponsored "Festival Of Litter" event..

The burning thing also gets up my nose, pun intended. You ask them nicely though and they usually stop, in my experience. -Just no concept of "other people" outside their own little bubble of consciousness.
