SATUN: -- Satun municipal officials have started capturing some of the 1,500 long-tailed macaques from the municipal area to be resettled in an island after numerous complaints from the residents of the troubles caused by these monkeys.

Municipal and livestock officials used traps to capture the wild monkeys at Ma Khao community, Khao Toh Yongkong, Sanyaram community and Khao Toh Phaya Wang.

The officials planned to resettle half of the 1,500 monkeys to Koy island in Tambon Tanyong Po which is abundant with fruit trees such as mango and fresh water resource so the monkeys will not starve.

Satun deputy governor Somjate Chongsupavisarnkit said that the long-tailed monkeys have been a nuisance to people in the aforementioned communities and have caused damages to their properties for a long time.

For the rest of the monkeys which are not resettled, he said officials will sterilize them to control their population.

What about the damages caused by the "short tailed monkeys" in the government?

They can do this with monkeys but not stray dogs! Rounding them up in the thousands and sterilising them would soon have an impact in urban areas, even if they let them back out on the streets afterwards.

Don't you mean vocational students!

They should be culled. Hateful animals and a real pest. Go walk up the Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi, it's overrun with them and they attack for the heck of it. Soi dogs are also a nuisance of course, but at least you can make friends with them. Monkeys are just ill tempered messy b******s. [emoji53]
