PATHUM THANI:-- "There's the problem and it stinks!" the pointers seem to be saying.

And not just that - the service provided by the municipal authority stinks too.

Residents in the Lat Sawai area of Lam Luk Ka, Pathum Thani have had enough of waiting for the dustmen to come and collect the rubbish, reported Daily News.

Despite the fact they have paid 300 baht per house and 1,200 baht per year for larger properties the authorities are ignoring them.

The bags are breaking up and it is horrible. Collection has been sporadic, usually only once a month and the rubbish is stinking especially in the hot weather. It has been three weeks since the last collection.

Meanwhile the furious residents were told by the Lat Sawai council that the dustcart had broken down.

The residents believed that was "rubbish".

I love Thailand but I hate the rubbish.

I hope these locals can start a trend, and the whole country starts complaining.

I had the opportunity once to speak to the son of a local mayor about the rubbish situation. He said there was not much they could do as " they didn't have enough businesses to tax" in his area to be able to afford to put in more bins.

He then got into his brand new two door merc and drove off.

The residents in Lat Sawai...should take the rubbish that is accumulating and dump it on the doorstep of the their local council office

Come to samui its about the same !!

Most people seem willing to pay for a proper service but nobody seems to have the know how or are being blocked from doing it !!

And with the construction going on everywhere it will just get worse !!

They copied this protest from the Lebanese You Stink movement.

8 / 10 for doing something.

Unfortunately only 1 / 10 for originality (a perennial Thai weakness) (as is rubbish).
