You will not have a problem leaving the country but you could be fined for not doing the report before you left the country when you do your report 90 days from when you enter the country.

There used to be a grace period -- 14 days before, 7 days after -- though guess you'd still have to intend to be in the country for it to roll on. Easy enough if it can be done online in any case, so no excuse really, you probably did the right thing.

I was in a similar position last month - 90 days ended on 7 April and I flew out of Thailand on 13 April. I left it too late to do by post (which is how I normally do it) and as I had to go to Immigration for Re-entry permit, I tried to do it there. As it was pre-Songkran it took over 3 hours to get the permit and then there were 150 people ahead of me in the 90 day queue. I gave up. I was unable to do it online, so I eneded up not doing it at all.

Now I'm back in Thailand and my 90 days is due on 26 July, I will do it by post and see what happens.

You can do the report 15 day before the report date or 7 days after. The 7 days after is only to do the report. Leaving the country is not equal to doing a report.

Now I'm confused. I was out of the country when my last 90 day report was due. I returned Feb 28 so I thought my next report was due May 28. I was told by a long time resident that the 90 days starts when you're stamped back in. Hope I didn't screw this up...

The discussion is about leaving after your 90 day report is due. If you leave before you are here 90 days you do not have to do a report. When your return the 90 days start again from the date of entry.

I think once you leave the country the slate is wiped clean. A while back, before they got more serious about doing the report, I went about 3 years without doing one. Each year when getting my extension they told me to go upstairs (Suan Plu) and do the report but I never bothered after they asked me to pay 2000 Baht and I refused.

In those days you could get a re entry permit even without the report. After about three years of this the nice immigration lady again told me to go upstairs and report but when I told her I was going abroad in a few weeks she advised me to not bother as it would cost me a 2000 Baht fine. I took her advice and started from scratch when I returned and had no problems.

I am sure you would have no problems too for just a few days.
