RichCor
Any specific reason for wanting the Big Dish (C-Band) over the smaller (Ku-Band) Dish? Thaicom 5/6/8 at 78.5°E Channel Assignments

But we are posting about free service - you do not pay for PSI and you get a lot more channels using C-Band with much less rain outage. lopburi3
Normally not a big thing to change from C to Ku as much smaller so would fit in same area easily - going the other way can be an issue sometimes. The dish is just a reflective surface to concentrate the signal but with rain there is less signal getting to the dish. For C-Band most dish material is screen type material that does not hold water and allows free airflow through it. Have no idea what your comment on remote means as most receiver boxs are dual band and use the same remote for C or Ku bands. Perhaps you mean the LNB on the dish itself is different? johng
You can have both C band and KU band LNBs on one large dishsimultaneously.C Band is much less affected by rainfade due to the lower frequenies used.C band transponders are usually of lower transmission power but can provide coverage of half the globe whereas KU band transponders are typically higher power and tighter focused to a spot on the earth surface maybe a single country...though spill over and sidelobes means the transmissions can often be received with very large dishes outside the intended coverage areaHaving a large dish is "better" than having a small dish if you want less interrupted viewing.Sent from my ASUS_Z00LD using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

If fact with a big dish you can install, together with a 'switch', a special Dual-Band LNB Feed Horn get dual-band C + Ku coverage from the same satellite; or even add companion LNBs slightly offset from the main focal feed and receive signals simultaneously from nearby satellites -- with many DVB-S2 set top boxes able to glide through all the available channels automatically.
