New to the forum a d fairly new to motorbikes in general.

Test drove a 2011 cbr150 today (older model with twin headlights)and am considering buying. It was smaller than I expected but seemed comfortable enough over a 4km round trip. However, I'm 6"4 and would like to hear from other tall folk about their experience driving this bike over longer trips (60-90km). How comfortable was the riding position on your upper body and legs?

Any advice is much appreciated.

I´m 6´3 and any trip longer than say, 30 minutes on a bike like that ends in agony, for me at least.

For getting around town I bought a Honda PCX, and basically sit on the backseat when driving. Which is great, because it allows my 7 year old a seat in the front row.

Back in Europe I ride a BMW GS 1100, and I find even that a tad on the small side...

My advice is don´t buy the little Honda. If it´s just for getting around I would buy a scooter, if it´s for having `real motorcycle´fun I would safe up for something more substantial, like a Honda 500 X . Which is surprisingly cheap in Thailand.

Much depends of OP's age.

A young guy can sit much longer in a cramped position than an old dude.

I also rides pcx downtown and a Versys 650 out on the highways that is very comfy for taller persons.

The 2011 model is not the older model with twin headlamps:

Even papa (muppet-like @ 5'-8") found the carb model uncomfortable

before adding 3" bar-risers.

Now all day no pompom.

My CBR 150 is a 2015 model and is perfect for me at 6'. However if I was 6'4", I am quite sure it would be uncomfortable. Not positive but I believe the 150 and 300 are the same frame so as mentioned, you will probably be better served with a 500X or a similar sized bike. Nothing worse than being cramped up on a 2+ hour ride. Good luck.

I looked at the CBR150 as it is less cramped than the 250/300, but 4 me a 6 foot daddy long legs not ideal. A mate of mine who is planning a new bike this year has short legs and likes the Forza (I know a bloody scooter) but they aren't cramped go quite well. Think I may look at one when I get back...currently riding a macho Peugeot V-clic around the cities in Portugal. No bike licence you see. May get one this summer.

Carb model? Hell no...

I'm 174cm tall, (5ft 7), I ride 2007 CBR150, it's very uncomfortable.

The bars are too close and too narrow, the gas tank is too small, the footpegs are too high, it's neither upright nor crouched,

it's some weird magic going on that only ends with " Fk this bike, can't wait to buy a bigger bike soon" after every single ride. Anything longer than 10 minutes and you'll want to take a break, 10 minutes! And for a bike that is soo small, the turning radius is absolutely horrible.

The tires are bad, and narrow, bike is very unstable under hard braking. Also unstable over 90 km/h.

And to top it all off, it has a carburetor.

Only thing this bike has going for it, is that for a single cylinder 150cc stock exhaust, the sound is pretty good, all the 150cc guys all wished they had my sound.

Another thing is, it's narrower than the rider, which means you can fit in gaps a bicycle wouldn't. During rush hour, I'm easily the fastest around.

To answer your question, NO. DO NOT get this bike, unless you're getting a good deal on it, like 10,000 baht, because that is what this bike is worth to me, as an owner of one, 10,000 baht.

My recommendation is, get the newer model CBR150, I test rode it when me and my friend switched bikes. the differences were night and day. It was so comfortable, same turning radius, hands and arms are always in good position, same speed. Wider gas tank gives you room for your balls, much more comfortable. And of course, fuel injection.

5 ft 7 and the bike is too small, go figure, I can't imagine a 6 ft 4 on this bike.

Thanks for all the advice. Starting to sound like I should look at other options...

Some have suggested a scooter, I already have one for getting around town and want a bigger bike for the purpose of taking longer rides and getting more enjoyment out of riding.

Any suggestions of bikes for a fairly novice rider? I have been looking at the newer model of CBR150 (not the brand new one out this year), as well as the 250 model, also been looking at the yamaha r15 and r3. Again, anything comfortable for a lankier frame?

If you can find an old KLX 250 or D-Tracker or can stretch to a Honda CRF250 L or M - these are ideal for taller people.

They are good in the city and can handle longer runs too.

Agree with Familyonthemove. As he said "ideal for taller people".

They have very good reviews from owners and I am just reading a RTW (round the world) trip report of a couple on two Honda CRF 250.
