Baby chollic. Feeding position

Featured Replies

Baby 2 months had a lot of chollic problem since born. Tried other formulas and seems to only make worse with constipation. He's absolutely thriving...6kg now and he was born 3 weeks premmy. If anything he's probably overfeeding.

One thing I did want to ask was about feeding position. My wife tends to hold a bottle for him...him lying down flat to feed him at night. Just thinking simple mechanics would he digest the milk better if she was holding him upright similar to how a lady would breastfeed naturally?

I don't think it matters so much Kenny. You still need to get the wind up, until around three months, and they start rolling over themselves. This helps move the wind through the intestines.

We had a collicy baby 30 years ago, and only motion would cure it. Walking around, or driving in the car. Painful to watch, as it is for the baby. Over soon mate.

Yeah I've found that. Relaxing him the shower or a bath and a massage after seems to help too

Chollic, Collicy...i am confused Do you mean Colic? Then as far as i have researched on the internet, it has nothing to do with wind or breast feeding position. Holding your baby over the shoulder and patting the back until she burps and passes out the wind is a different matter. Baby colic (also known as infantile colic) is defined as episodes of crying for more than three hours a day for more than three days a week for three weeks in an otherwise healthy child between the ages of two weeks and four months. The cause of colic is generally unknown.

the worst part of bringing up baby #1 is the uncertainty and stress - and the multitude of opinions you receive from all the do - gooders.

they might all be right - or they might all be wrong.

pretend you lived 500 years ago, no internet, no newspaper...

listen to your wife's mother - and let the girls deal with it while you are having an 'ale'.

step back, relax, this is not man's business - no matter how euro - sexual you are.

30 years from now you will know i have been right about this thumbsup.gif

Protein Hydralysates work well; however, expensive.

Saakura, as you say, the cause of colic is unknown. But the stomach pain suggest to me a problem there. To discount this may be a mistake. Just an opinion champ.

We used to medicate as well with infacol c, ignoring grandmas advice of brandy.

Whatever OP. It will be over soon. Soothe and calm.

Colic is wind caught in the bowel isn't it?

Colic is wind caught in the bowel isn't it?

There is no known cause of colic. and it always resolves within the first few months of life.

Finally if you are concerned about the baby crying then have him checked by a pediatrician (baby/children's doctor) who, I am sure, will be able to offer reassurance.
