Hillary Clinton dodges major gut punch
By Errol Louis, CNN Political Commentator

(CNN)Hillary Clinton dodged a major gut punch Tuesday night in the Kentucky Democratic primary, eking out a victory that will give her about half of the 60 delegates up for grabs -- and raise the possibility of putting the normally Republican state in play in the fall election.

Clinton's victory won't put a definite end to the campaign of Bernie Sanders, who had a respectable showing and also won in Oregon on Tuesday. But victory in the Bluegrass State helps Clinton avoid an embarrassing loss in a state that was always, to a great extent, hers to lose.

Among Democrats, Kentucky has long been Clinton country: she won 65.5 percent of the vote in the 2008 primary against Barack Obama's 29.9 percent. Bill Clinton also carried the state in 1992 on his way to the White House, and again in 1996.

lol a 'gut punch' good expression.

Hang in there Bernie

Even if he does not get the nomination, (and anything can still happen in this bizarre election year *) Bernie has started a very strong movement in this country that will not go away when the last ballot is counted.

Bernie has given the people of America, especially the younger voters, who are fed up with corporate owned government a voice and they have learned how to use it.

Like it or not, we will feel the Bern for generations to come.

Like it or not, we are in Bernie's debt for that.

* it is not unthinkable that Trump and Clinton could be disqualified from running..and there is still 6 months to go before the election.

anything can happen in this fast moving, exciting game of American Politics!

Sanders v Cruz?

American politics are loony, the same as their voting process.

That's your construction, Sanders v Cruz, not the poster's construct.

American politics occur with 330 million people in a continental republic of 50 states predicated in a Constitution written by men of the European Enlightenment and in the present time, i.e., the 21st century.

Trump, Sanders and the rightwhinge sure do find a lot to complain about without any even remotely realistic remedies. Sort of like a spouse.

Bernie has started a very strong movement in this country that will not go away when the last ballot is counted.

Bernie has given the people of America, especially the younger voters, who are fed up with corporate owned government a voice and they have learned how to use it.

The young people have not yet learned how to use their voices, nor their minds. They are locked into the shallows of the Internet, Twitter and Facebook, and all the other moronic social media where their loud voice quickly dissipates. Little different than the young people of the "Arab Spring" who imagined their collective Internet voices could implement change with placards and slogans but without book length thought behind it. The only time Hillary Clinton has said anything that has impressed me was when she was caught in an impromptu conversation with some Black Lives Matter activists where she told them that changing people's hearts was not going to create any systemic change in the system. The young people are also totally addicted to immediate gratification demanding firings of individuals or immediate responses: "what do we want (add your favorite topic), when do we want it.....NOW!". Meanwhile the dark side of the force plays the long game and keeps winning.

The only people with the intellectual chops to beget a lasting movement are perhaps an Elizabeth Warren or a Ralph Nader. But Nader has been marginalized by mainstream media with the false and ridiculous accusation that he was responsible for the tragic results of the 2000 election. I am not sure what Warren's long term strategy is here. With the likely choice between Trump and Clinton I suspect this current younger generation will retreat back into their little echo chambers they create within the virtual world and withdraw from politics, just as the long game players anticipated, and manipulated.

Meanwhile, just to remind my fellow Americans that in many states there is a third choice, Jill Stein of the Green Party. In a throw-away election with possibly two equally distasteful choices, Stein becomes a very attractive candidate.

I am more optimistic than ever that Bernie will be fully on board to help Hillary Clinton defeat the evil orange beast in November! clap2.gif

What rough beast slouches towards Washington to be crowned King of Amerika?

Or, Queen, for that matter. Such is the paucity of choice.

I'd be inclined to vote for someone reasonable like Stein, but because the thought of a Trump presidency is so distasteful (and mega-harmful for America and most of its citizens), I'd vote for HRC.

This is great advice. I agree. All Sanders supporters should switch their vote to Stein and the Greens in the general election. Stand on principle. Otherwise, you will have eight years of Clinton, Inc.

That's wishful thinking for Reps. Everyone knows that a vote for a liberal 3rd party candidate like the Greens is a vote which will benefit the Republican candidate. The exact same dynamic would be true if Trump or Bloomberg chose to be a 3rd party candidate. Any votes for them would hurt the Republican candidate. Nader was a major factor why Gore didn't win in 2000 over Bush Jr. Even with Nader, Gore got more votes, but the Republican Attack Machine, with help from ultra-right wingers in the Supreme Court ensured Bush stole that election.

Vote on principle for the lower echelon candidates if you want, but voting Green in the general election will only help Trump. And all reasonable Americans know by now, Trump would be for America was Katrina was for New Orleans.

First look at explosive Hillary documentary, ‘Clinton Cash’

Hillary Clinton says that when she and her husband moved out of the White House 15 years ago, they were “dead broke.” Today, they’re worth more than $150 million.

if Bernie doesn't win and beat the Clinton's .Trumps advantage . Seriously who would vote to have the Clinton's back in the White House

If it's Clinton vs Trump, Clinton wins by a comfortable majority.

If it's Sanders vs Trump, Sanders wins by an overwhelming majority.

Despite 17 candidates, Reps weren't able to field a viable one. The moderates were blown away because one of the Rep candidates was a brash salesman (his own helicopter to the Iowa State Fair and putting his (fake and mislabeled) products on display after winning Miami, to name a few). The founder of Fox news once said: "Two candidates walk onto a stage. One starts by saying, "I have a solution for problems in the Middle East." The other falls off the stage into the orchestra pit. Which one do you think is going to make the next day's headline?"

Here's another way: A group of Republicans are standing at lecterns at the Republican debates. All but one are trying their best to answer tough questions with thoughtful responses. That one candidate is brash, interrupting, threatening, boasting, lying, .....who do you think will gain the most attention? And that's the name of the game for Republicans. They don't pick a candidate who is intelligent experienced, knowledgeable, wise and cool-headed. No, Republicans are brought up on reality TV and violent shoot-em-up videos. They're going to pick the most outlandish character. That's why fake wrestling is so popular among rednecks (and Trump likes it also). Very little actual wrestling, but a whole lot of posturing, shouting, threats and fake action. Donald Trump is the WWF wrestler of US politics.

Yes, because you have been so correct about this election so far . . . .

The longer Trump campaigns, the more the voters with a modicum of common sense will turn off to him.

I've been wrong about some things, I admit. However, look at that sentence and you'll see it is more likely true than untrue.

In other words, sensible voters are turning off to him. We'll have better numbers Nov. 9, the day after Clinton's landslide win.
