Honda Accord Hybrid oomph

Featured Replies

According to the specs a 2015 Hybrid has a 2 L 141 HP engine, but with a total system HP of 196. So what does that really mean? If I step on it will I get a 0-100 of (i'm guessing) 12 seconds or 8 seconds?

Any Hybrid owners out there that can share their thoughts and experiences?

BTW, the new Hybrid due out soon will have a total system HP of 212.

I just wish they would do something about their duel screen infotainment system...got to be one of the worst in the industry.

The Civic inspired exterior styling is also meh ?

What's bad about it? If you're an owner of one, what about the acceleration?

They Hybrids acceleration is great, especially for Thailand (which is the case for most electric or hybrid electric cars). The last version of the Accord hybrid was justly praised...and im sure this updated version will be even better (drivetrain and tech/safety package). im just saying I'm not a big fan of the exterior styling or the duel-screen infotainment design (the rest of the interior design is very nice).

OK, thanks for the input. Looking forward to having a look at the 2017 model which should hit the showrooms soon.

Fully agree - absolute rubbish. Don't drive a hybrid but if the response time is as bad as the infotainment system you'll be sitting 5 seconds before you notice anything happening.

Both the Camry and Accord Hybrids are quick and no acceleration lag.

Lasy year I had a test drive in both ...preferred the softer ride of the Camry but preferred the Accord Hybrid system. I think that the Camry will get an updated hybrid system soon.

In the end went for the high up position and more luggage space of an SUV.

Well, hopefully they've listened to their costumers (if this is indeed a common complaint) and done something about the infotainment system on the new hybrid.

Just as an aside why don't car manufacturers here provide 0-100, max speed and fuel consumption figures in their literature and on web sites. I have even emailed several manufacturers (Ford, Honda, Toyota) and all have replied info not available. Certainly fuel consumption figures are needed when deciding between different models to enable an informed decision.

I would guess because it's not required by Thai law. American manufacturers' didn't provide this information either until it was required by law. Your bet bet is to find the closest comparable manufacturer's model sold in Australia, Europe, or North American and get this data from their websites.

Whatever the companies would tell you may not be realistic anyway, especially for fuel economy....still useful for comparing models I guess.

Ecocars need at least 20 km/l but this is almost impossible to achieve on normal driving cycles in Thailand - my swift is currently on 14.9 km/l for the last 1500 km or so. It's best to look into the literature on models tests under various conditions by owners of the cars, rather than anything supplied by manufacturers. www.headlightmag.com test most of the models in Thailand when they get their hands on them.

Thanks for the tip about www.headlight.com. Looks interesting.

My Ford Fiesta 1.5 which is now 3 years old over it's entire liftime has so far averaged 15.83 km/ltr. If I take it fairly gently I can get it up to about 18.5km/ltr on a run

The fuel consumption figures produced by manufacturers are useless. When you check what their cars get in real life it is often 60% of the claimed figure. I am surprised they are not sued for misrepresentation.

The suers would get sued back for defamation as a lawsuit that entails that the company are liars is the purest defamation.

I asked Honda about the big discrepancy for the fuel economy.

He told me that the figures were based on normal 95 octane fuel and not for E85 which is advertised.

I looked for the Accord hybrid but even i like the system you lose about 50% of your trunk and the fold down back seats.

For this reason alone i went for the normal accord and i'm very happy about it.
