TRANG: A man out fishing who was washed away in strong waters in front of his wife has been found after a two day search in southern Thailand.

Jeuam Sithichai, 53, a native of downtown Trang had been missing since Wednesday. His body was found in a pile of rubbish near some sluice gates about 100 metres from where he had gone missing.

Wife Preeda Chumcheua said he had fallen into the water but managed to get to the other side though he was up to his neck in swirling currents. However, some medicine in a plastic bag had fallen from his pocket and in trying to grab it he had fallen back in and been washed away.

A large search party of police, soldiers and locals was assembled who had to work in difficult stormy conditions. He was eventually found by a soldier in the Na Tham Neua sub district.
