I regularly lift weights and think I pulled a muscle or tendon I'm not sure, in my right arm as i have pain when lifting but dull pain when not doing anything.. I stopped all weights for the last few days and seems better.

Anyone have any experience with this and if so how long do you have to let the arm rest. Is there anything to do except use counterpain or balm? Is it necessary to see a doctor or let it heal by itself?

Try icing it and an ace bandage and rest it for a week. Did you feel it when it happened? Ibuprofens work for me for the pain.

Is it the arms or shoulders, shoulders might take quite long and maybe take anti inflammatory medicine. but if its bad id see a doc.

If you have no contraindications to it (gastritis, ulcers, bleeding disorder or taking anticoagulants) then yes, take an NSAID. Keep resting the arm and apply ice and compression bandage. If it is an inflamed tendon or bursa may take a few weeks to resolve. If it fails to slowly but steadily improve see a doctor.

I was diagnosed with a torn tendon in my left elbow. Tried rest and physio, neither of which seemed to help. Then a friend suggested acupuncture and the improvement was nothing short of amazing.

Acupuncture works as well as placebos do. Stick to what is right.

Rest the arm for a few days and see if the pain persists.

If the pain doesn't go away, better go to a doctor and not to broscience experts online.

I've pulled my right bicep while doing strongman training.

I foolishly stuffed two smaller wheels inside a much bigger one and started flipping it without proper warmup.

It took me almost a year before I was able to curl a 10kg dumbbell when I was lifting a lot more than that before.

Sometimes, mefenamic acid (ponstan) might do the trick but nothing beats rest.
