CHIANG MAI: -- An alliance of non-state armed groups in Burma are to meet Burmese government’s new peace negotiator Dr Tin Myo Win tomorrow (Friday) in Chiang Mai after the alliance’s two-day meeting in the northern capital, according to The Irrawaddy on Wednesday.

The alliance, the United Nationalities Federal Council (UNFC), consists entirely of non-signatories to last year’s ceasefire agreement.

UNFC’s delegation for political negotiation which comprises 13 members drawn from member groups will meet in Chiang Mai with Dr Tin Myo Win who is best known as a longstanding physician of Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the National League of Democracy.

UNFC secretary Khu Oo Reh stressed the need for all communication from the government to the armed groups in the alliance to be channeled through UNFC structure rather than through individual groups and leaders so as to preserve an “all inclusive policy”.
