I have my prescription for contacts. Info on the box. Each eye is different. My prescription is over a year old. Is there an optometrist in BKK that can just write me a prescription without the cost of eye exam? Will an online retailer in America except the prescription from a Dr. over seas?

You do not need a prescription to purchase contact lenses in Thailand.

The on-line suppliers will accept a prescription from anywhere but be sure, if you get a new 'script, it is not provided by a shop girl "skilled" in the use of an auto-refractor.

If you need a new prescription then get it from the Rutinin Eye Hospital and not one of the glossy retail "eye glass " shops.

Actually I am not sure that a US based online retailer will accept a prescription from out of country, better ask.

And, if they will, far better to pay for a proper prescription than to rely on what a shop will come up with. Cost of exam should be under 1000 baht.
