Dual US/Thai passport holders with name discrepancies to the UK (or Schengen area)

Featured Replies

This may as well be a personal PM to Samran, but perhaps others in this same boat can chime in. Has anyone had any issues at UK immigration when travelling there on their US passports (but exiting Thailand on their Thai passport), specifically for those who have different spellings for the Thai and US last names. And perhaps in these similar instances: different first names, one passport or the other lacking a middle name, and in one particular case, a completely different last name (Chinese)?

How would Immigration in the UK know you had two passports? Surely you only show one on entry - to any Country?

Does the flight booking match the name in the US passport?

This is all pre-booking discussion for a group of US-Thais that for the most part have not travelled to Europe at all and having mostly only used their US citizenship to fly back and forth between here and the US and within North America. Some are saying to just travel as Thais with visas while others, such as the ones with the exact same spelling are supporting the go as Americans concept to save time. As far as I understand, everyone is in Thailand on their Thai passports.

Just wondering what issues others have run into, especially now that Advance Passenger Info is in effect (but not sure how that would affect slight name variations.... I know some allowances are made for lack of middle name and maiden name type cases).
