This sort of thing happens frequently in the City of Lovemaking.

Sucker arrives in town, thinks with his little brain, and wants to get involved in the "entertainment" business or more bluntly wants to be a pimp.

It is on the very edge of the law so they trust what the conman foreigner feeds them who claims he has the right contacts etc.and likely plied him with hot p..sy to keep his guard down and pre occupied.

Usually all done with cash and little or no documentation. All a bit hush hush.

This wannabe then fell for a second time, and paid 600,000 up front.

He was never going to make it in Pattaya. A lamb to the slaughter.

He is probably lucky he lost his money quickly, better than losing the money and wasting time as well. He didn't have a hope from the start.

Now he has gone to the police, if he has any money left I am sure the they will relieve him of it, figuring he will lose it anyway and it is better in their hands rather than some foreign conman.

One is born everyday and Pattaya is a magnet.

Next.

I assume by foreign conmen you mean foreign to the Italian as the conmen were Thai.
Wrong again. Keep trying.

Not a Thai, what gave you that impression?

You had better take another look. I think you imagined it.

The Italian says his "friend" who stole his money, drugged him and left him on the beach was British. Or are you claiming the Italian was tricked into believing he was British by a sneaky Thai who was pretending to be British and wore a disguise?

I wonder why you seem to want to blame Thais for things they didn't do?

Anything else you are not sure on feel free to ask, I am more than happy to fill you in and set you straight.

Cheers

"Just after midnight, on the morning of June 8, the police were informed that an Italian national had been drugged and robbed of his belongings.

Forty-four year old Vick Geneva (translated from Thai) has made a statement claiming he invested over two-million baht in the entertainment business with some local partners and subsequently lost his money.

Following that he was approached at the Majestic Hotel, on May 28, by another man who assured him he would be able to retrieve his investment for him. But it would cost another 600,000 in police fees which needed to be provided in advance.

Mr Geneva then went with the money to meet the man at his black Toyota Fortuna and discuss the matter further. On the way he was offered a bottle of water, which he drank, and then started to feel dizzy and passed out.

The next thing he remembers is waking up on Pattaya Beach, in front of the Police Station, with not only the cash missing but also his designer watch, worth around 150,000 Baht.

After returning to his hotel room to recover he began to try and contact the men again and after ten days of trying he finally decided to report the theft to the police.

A statement has been taken and officers will attempt to track the men down."

Now then here's the thing. Above is the article the OP links to.

As to the man who drugged and robbed him...where does it say he's British?

Some more details would sure be nice so we can get an idea of the original perps that took his investment money, and then the identification of the debt collectors who were also out to fleece this guy,,,,,,,,,,,if the story turns out to be true.

It's a news report, not a request for investigative assistance from Thaivisa 'experts'.

It was a post, not a request for moderation comments from Thai Visa trainees.

Everyone has their opinions on Mr. Vick Geneva....love this Italian name....where I have a problem is waiting ten days trying to contact these men.....you wake up on a beach with money and watch gone after being drugged.....and he didn't come to the conclusion he had been robbed...Duh! Does not sound very bright to me....and listening to somebody who claims they can get your money back by bribing the police......this guy is dropping on the I.Q. scale close to the bottom.....Ops, I just heard a big thump....it was Vick hitting bottom. Time for Vick Geneva to leave Thailand and head back to beautiful Italy for some serious counseling.

And old timer when I first moved to Pattaya warned me not to trust the foreign locals here. Good advice.

Do a quick search on the Internet, go to a respected national newspaper that we are not allowed to talk about here, they have a more detailed article than the Pattaya One story. There is even more details in the Thai language press, I don't think I can name that one either.

They are chasing an Englishman.

They don't all call me Roo Muck for nothing.

Anything else you need to know, feel free to ask again.

Cheers

Ps, you might also want to google search "Pattaya conman". Interesting stuff.

Man this guy has either had sh!t luck

or more money than cents.

Or maybe for this case...more bahts than smarts

It's "sense" genius.

5555..whoooosh

I take it your not from a country that does not use $ and cents

Obviously it's useless to not go on as that wouldn't make no sense.

where he comes from they use double negatives

I just don't believe his legal name is Vick Geneva. Sounds like a "porn star name".

To figure out yours use your middle name and the street you grew up on . Works 60 percent of the time 100 percent of the time. Just like Sex Panther.
