Jonathan Fairfield Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Monk found in a car in layman’s attire with wine and condoms CHONBURI:-- The assistant abbot of a temple in Chon Buri’s Si Racha district was arrested by police early Monday morning in a car with two drunk assistants, a bottle of wine and several condoms. The monk, Phra Palad Chakkrit, of Wat Viboonsanhatham in Si Racha district, wore black pants and black shirts with a black headgear at the time when police manning a check point in Tambon Nong Khang Kork stopped the Toyota Camry for a search. His saffron robe was found in his black cotton bag on the back seat of the car. A bottle of expensive wine with some wine left was placed on the gearbox and over a dozen condoms were found on the back seat. Police used breathalyzer to test whether the monk and his two assistants were drunk or not. All were tested with above-limits alcohol content with the monk tested for 122 milligramme of alcohol level. Police later contacted the abbot of the temple, Phra Vinaithorn, for advice of how to deal with Phra Palad Chakkrit and was told there was no need to defrock him as he had left the mokhood long time ago. thaiduncankk Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Nothing better than a good old monk story on a Monday, to start off the week.
trogers Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 That's one way to lift one's spirit to sit beside Buddha...

So he wasn't really a monk at all? That is probably a 'face saving' statement.
thaiduncankk Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 were the condoms used? That is probably a sticky subject !

NongKhaiKid Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Described as the assistant abbot of a temple and given the appropriate title but the abbot of the temple claims he had left the monk hood some time ago so there's no need to defrock him ? Hhmm. The truth is out there.
tandor Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 were the condoms used? That is probably a sticky subject ! ..three guys with no eyebrows in a car ...has to be suspicious!

Sydebolle Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Maybe a worthwhile thought for the powers-to-be; open the "Ministry of Defrocked Men of the Cloth" - just a thought
Basil B Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 So he wasn't a monk after all and the headline is just cheap click-bait? The theory is that he is a monk but that it was facing saving ...........Oh go back and read the thread again and pay attention this time. I did... Up until the last line nothing to say he was not a monk. I think along with others this was a face saving (long time ago was a slip of the tong), I am sure when the story gets around the local community we will hear another explanation... Maybe something along the lines of... they were doing charitable work handing out free condoms to the working ladies and some nice girl left a half bottle in the car and as they were not accustomed to alcohol they got hi on the fumes...
KhunBENQ Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Expensive wine and a dozen condoms? This monkhood looks more and more appealing to me
robertson468 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Police later contacted the abbot of the temple, Phra Vinaithorn, for advice of how to deal with Phra Palad Chakkrit and was told there was no need to defrock him as he had left the monkhood long time ago. So he wasn't really a monk at all? My thoughts exactly. What a misleading headline. He was in layman's attire because he ain't a Monk TV - c'mon stop sensationalising.
Siamwhiteelephant Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 So he wasn't a monk after all and the headline is just cheap click-bait? The theory is that he is a monk but that it was facing saving ...........Oh go back and read the thread again and pay attention this time. Before you make comment like that it is always a good idea to read the full report yourself, that way you don't appear daft. The title says he’s a monk and then says he’s “assistant abbot of a temple in Chon Buri’s Si Racha district “The original article is the same, word for word. His saffron robe was on the car’s back seat (carrying it around after leaving the monkhood long ago?). It’s all stated as fact. Only the abbot’s denial runs counter to him not being a monk. So, with recent scandals involving Buddhist temples in mind, no wonder many on this thread are questioning or whistle-blowing. You must notice the contradictory information here.

balo Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Maybe he was just celebrating that his monkhood times were over ? I can understand he want some booze and sex after living in hell.
