PHUKET: At least seven Chinese nationals have been hospitalised with injuries sustained in a tour bus accident this morning in Patong.

According to initial reports the driver of the tour bus, which was transporting Chinese tourists, blamed the accident on brake failure.
The injured, who are reported to be in safe condition with only minor injuries after being admitted to hospital, include five women and two men.

Other side of the picture.

Not brakes, the idiot bus driver didnt have the power to make it up the hill and then tried to back down. Typical Phuket buffoons driving buses.

Its the road with the big hill, just a few steps from aussie divers, right beside the 7-11

What road is this?

50 year road. A very steep hill down towards Nanai. I guess must have flipped round in the crash to be pointing up the hill so he must have hit something solid. A good thing too else he would have caused much more damage on Nanai Road.

Do these buses have a mechanical emergency brake like a car or pickup?

another farce, why do the bib always take the drivers word for it.is there such a thing called an "accident investigation unit" here. ? if so they are kin useless at doing it.(probably not i suspect), cop to driver, "how did that happen ? answer, brakes fail, ok "mate thanks for that" sure it wasn't the wet road,? oh no the road was dry,

You mean a hand brake. Yes they do, but useless to stop a heavy runaway bus. Only good to stop rolling away when parked.

He was trying to make it up the hill and had no power, then lost control

Shouldnt the driver have checked the brakes on his vehicle before he starts his day driving passengers.

What road is this?

South end of Hasip Pee, just above the Nanai turnoff.

Are there some guesthouses up there on hasip pee road now? I haven't been over by there for at least 10 years.

Patong Bay Hill Resort, arguably the largest resort on the Island. Owned by a well known local family and employer of many of the Time Share touts who infest the town.

.

There are many other hotels and guesthouse along that road which seem to be in contravention of building restrictions relating to altitude.

Gotcha, the K family strikes again.

Really ... going upthe hill. No power ... sounds like the driver could not use low gears. Not a brake problem ...

Do these buses have a mechanical emergency brake like a car or pickup?

Usually yes, but maybe none within hitting distance this time.

....brakes may need maintenance 2x a year....???

...raking in the dough hand over fist....

...is it too much to expect....???

It's always the brakes, and NEVER the fault of the driver.

Ok let me educate you. Thai's can do nothing wrong so obviously it cannot be the drivers fault. Please remember for future use.

"Start your dream vacation with a bang!"

That driver showed considerable skill. I'd have a hard time rolling a bus in that sort of road.

accidents can happen to anyone even when least expected.

good thing is that the injured are getting treatment.

speedy recovery and be on your way to enjoy the remaining part of the trip.

Looks like the driver worked hard to get it to tip over tongue.png

Exactly - hard to know it tipped over going backwards when he seems to only have gone a very few meters up this hill.
