Thought you would probably know already but PM sent.

What I like about it is not necessarily that the food is better, but they detail how to make it on most every dish. It isn't one thread it is many different threads but the prep and ingredients are laid out for everything made.

This thread isn't that organized. Lots of pictures of stuff people just bought at the market or had at a restaurant with no other descriptions.

The thread is not dead! Nothing exotic here but some good ol' faves. Cereal w/fresh fruit for breakfast and a fresh veggie salad for lunch...1490062729606.thumb.jpg.6ed67ff7581279abd9291d96f5f9df52.jpg1490062722612.jpg.71f7ec0065c42e20d79c6e66430cf4b6.jpg

OK GF does not measure anything, just eyeballs and tastes along the way, so we had to "guesstimate". Hopefully not too much was lost in translation.

Lightly sautee garlic and coarse black pepper and add to
1 liter boiling water and 2 cubes mushroom buillon (see pic 1)

Add Chinese cabbage, carrots, shitake mushroom and Thai celery (ผักขึ้นฉ่าย) to your liking and tofu (or large noodles) if tofu is not yer thang

While soup is simmering, mix 1/3 cup water and 1/3 cup potato flour in a separate bowl

Simmer until veggies are to your liking, then add 2 tablespoons Black Soy Sauce (see pic 2) and slowly stir in potato flour mixture stirring constantly until slightly thickened (add more water if too thick)

for spicy sprinkle or top generously with dried and crushed red chilie pepper

Eggs look very well cooked though. Don't eat baked beans over here because I find them too sweet and don't really eat anything to go with them in any case. Maybe a pork chop but even then it would only be if I manage to pick up a brand of beans whose name escapes me. HTC or something like that? Ayam and Brooks I find way to sweet but that is likely due to not having been raised on them.

Brook baked beans, a little sweet but, IMHO, every bit as good, if not better than Heinz. Eggs home grown, didn't have a chip butty though as I don't like the bread here.

Making my own bread today to go with the chicken liver pate I just made. Wifey just gone out to get more butter. Bet she comes back with a bottle of red too.

Bread can certainly be an issue which is why so many farangs make their own here. I'm fortunate enough to have a couple French bakeries less than 15 minutes away so I'll grab a baguette from them if I fancy some. 20 Baht

Marinating firm tofu in olive oil, mushroom soi sauce and lemon juice plus rosemary.
Inexpensive and delicious

where do ye get rosemary? I'd substitute lime juice fer lemon and the other ingredients are available...

sounds great, gonna havta try it inna stir fry...normally I simmer it in the wok in kikkoman with garlic, onions and veges...the unpackaged tofu blocks from the market are the best...

Dried rosemary in supermarket or whatever herb takes your fancy. Yes I actually meant lime and forgot to mention the Garlic
Good you added it.

I have seen it at the markets but wasn't sure if it was tofu. Gonna buy some and try it

I'd suggest trying flatbreads like chapatis, arabic bread and flour tortillas...very easy to make and satisfies the bread craving and goes well with stew type dishes, curries, etc...can easily freeze and good to nibble on fer a snack...

Villa Market has an excellent assortment of breads...light, dark, seeds, whole grain, rye.
