Photo & Art piece sale while stay with Retirement VISA?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Newbie here but wondering and need help for solution.
Kindly advise.

My farang BF is now working in Thailand under VISA & Work permit and about to retire very soon.

Then plan to live in Thailand with retirement VISA.

However, he aim to establish professional in Photography after retire.

And plan to sale his Photo. (Let's say he is very good with his photo).

Wondering, will he able to sale his photo to domestic OR oversea client without problem to his retirement VISA here?

We worry about Retirement VISA and Tax matter.

Any solution?

Thank you so much.

PS: What he want to do is street photo kind of thing, not camera man for hire.

  • He cannot work in Thailand as a professional photographer without a work permit, and he will only get a work permit if he is employed by a company. He could start a company but it is expensive and he will need to employ at least four Thais.

If he lives in Thailand he will be resident for tax.

I suggest he does photography for a hobby, gives the photos to you, and you or another Thai sell the pictures.

Thank you, elviajero.

Seem it is legit that way. However can i sale that photo by refer to him as creator?

Artists very often sign or label their works with a nom de plume (alias, pseudonym), thus maintaining a continuity in a string of artworks. The OP could do well to consider this.
