BANGKOK: -- The extension of the BTS Sukhumvit Line from Bearing station to Samutprakarn province is expected to be fully operational in 2018 — two years earlier than scheduled.

The extension, which stretches 13 kilometers and includes nine new stations, is expected to ease the traffic congestion in Bang Na and the industrial area of Samutprakarn province where many factories are located, Taweesak Lertprapan, Director of Traffic and Transportation Department, said today

They need longer trains to go with it, often so overcrowded you can't get on

Well if it happens great. From past experiences of the BTS and underground, a 2020 would be a more likely opening date but I would like to be pleasantly surprised.
