Door falls off plane in flight from Mae Sot to Don Muang missing Burmese grasscutter

A rear door fell off a private plane flying from Mae Sot airport to Don Muang on Thursday afternoon.

The door fell just meters from where a Burmese laborer was cutting grass at a temple.

The flight immediately returned to the airport and reporters found the HI - ITD B350 aircraft on Friday still near the runway wrapped in protective plastic.

Fortunately there were no reports of injury.

A monk at the temple of Wat Phrathatu Doi Hua Fai said that the door crashed to earth about 4.30pm on Thursday. A Burmese grass cutter was working out front of the temple and heard it crash into a wooded area. The door was dragged into the temple and later soldiers arrived to ask the abbot's permission to take it back to base.

obviously the plane had the usual thai maintenance work to ensure it safety aspects were up to scratchblink.png , getting worse and worse here for any sort of maintenance work to be carried out no mater what it is, buildings, bridges, busses etc and now aircrafts. Have to wonder how many people have to die or how often this sort of thing has to happen before they actually start taking safety maintenance seriously, suppose they just cant stand to lose all that profit by doing it though.

Why do you say that?

It was a small private aircraft and it is the pilots responsibility to do a walk around and to make sure that the aircraft is safe for flight.

As far as Aircraft, do you really know what you are talking about ? What is your frame of reference?? As for the other issues bridges, buildings, elevators, roads and sidewalks, I tend to agree !!

Valid point, but how does he make sure the door is closed properly from his walk around outside, then get in the plane to fly it?

Not related directly, but it reminded me of an RNAC flight some years back. As the plane was at cruising altitude of 33,000 feet a very inabriated Indian passenger was "fighting" with a rear exit door handle on a Boeing 757 shouting "I wanna get off here". No handcuffs in those days, so a male flight attendant has to sit on the drunk for the remainder of the flight to Delhi.

He has a "door warning " light on his Annunciation panel that tells him all doors are safe..I guess that the light was out on this "First" rate aircraft with "Second" rated pilots and maintenance personnel.

Duct tape, not Duck Tape. Used for taping DUCTS not DUCKS!!! Really!!!

I thought the same, but googled it, and BOTH spellings are acceptable, strange because it is used for taping aircon ducting.
