Unlocking AIS 1-2 Call Smartphone in the U.S.

Featured Replies

I have a Huawei Honor 6 that I had on AIS 1-2 call whilst in Thailand.

Now am trying to use in the U.S. but cannot seem to find the solution. Carries say can't help me, unlocker websites say they cannot help.

Anyone have experience with same and a solution?

What's the problem?

What version? H60-Lxx? This is very important to understand.

Dual SIM?

Did you buy the phone from AIS? Was it free/promoted/subsidized? Do you think it is carrier-locked to AIS? Why do you think that?

What do you want to do? Use your AIS SIM? Or use a local U.S. SIM?

Do you want to use mobile data? Or just voice/SMS?

How long are you in the U.S. for?

Maybe better to get a new phone?

It helps if you can provide as much detail as possible.

Normally the phones in Thailand are Unlocked when you buy them

Yes, but...some free/promotional phones here - especially those targeted for existing 2G to 3G upgrading customers - are carrier-locked.

But, hard to tell if this is the issue with the OP.

Looking at the specs on the various versions, it's not really the ideal phone for the U.S. prepaid GSM networks.

Hi And thanks for offering to give some advice.

Problem:carriers here saying locked they cannot help me, happy to sell me new phone

From the OP: Huawei Honor 6 bought in Thailand, AIS 1-2 call sim, have been trying to get their help to no avail.

Yes, smartphone so want roaming data feed as well as phone/sms.

In U.S. for time being, yes looking like getting a new phone is the route, bummer as I spent 12,000thb on this one not but a year ago.

Have you tried a SIM from T-Mobile, Simple or StraightTalk?

Can you share the exact model number of your phone, it might be something like H60-Lnn, where the nn will be numbers, like L01, L02, etc. This is very important information to have in order to make a recommendation.

I don't think your phone is carrier locked to AIS - this is just a guess based on the price you paid - so another SIM should work, assuming you installed it in the proper SIM slot, and have coverage in your area.

Just to help clarify AIS phones , yes some are sim slot locked to the carrier . My wife has a phone purchased on promotion , a Lava Iris 510  and no other sims can be used , I have the very next model , no promotion bought from the shop free to use any sim , unlocked 100% . Seems like any subsidised phones from previous experience will be tied to the carrier .
