huge implications ….the war on terror did not need this distraction.

you mean we would lose Erdogan's precious contribution? hahahhaa

let's hope the Turkish military really want to restore secular rule, this would be a very good thing.

BREXIT, then NICE.......easy excuse for this coup as the world will likely support military force

Whose next????

And what will be the start date of WWIII? It might have already started and historians will battle about a beginning catalyst!!!!

Could you imagine if Beijing gets crazy????

I'm sure the CIA is behind this!!!!

You make it sound as if it were a bad thing.

The region does not need any more instability. Whether this turns out to be positive or negative depends on whether it is successful and how quickly it happens.

The world doesn't need more people heading to other countries.

Wounder how Angela is going to accommodate millions of Turkish Refugees??? gigglem.gif

Yes, the nice Islamic ones who would not like it if Turkey became more secular......... Totally unlike where most of Europe is heading lately. They might feel much more comfortable there for all sorts of reasons.

I would remind people that the world's largest Muslim country (Indonesia if you did not know) has a secular government and constitution and one day the caliphate lovers will be trying to flex their muscles there. I mean even more that they are now. We live in an interesting and unstable world and radical Islam (is there any other kind, if you are a "good" Muslim) is the main threat to world peace at the moment, not US foreign policy.

While I am rambling on a hobby-horse, the sooner the west perfects economically viable nuclear fusion, the sooner we draw the financial teeth of the oil-rich Muslim states. They will have to face the reality of having to actually develop individual national economies instead of just pumping one out of the ground. The eventually finite oil reserves are too valuable as lubricants and raw material for industry to squander indefinitely as motive fuel. The oil states would then have to look at educating ALL their potential workforce and persuading their own nationals to work for a living instead of importing a workforce from poorer Asian countries. They will then have less time & money to spend exporting Islamic theology & terror. Roll on the day!!!! In the meantime we are in for a rough ride, i.e Turkey and Europe will have to work out their desired futures. Even though she would not admit it openly, I'll be the penny (pfennig) has dropped already for dear Angela. Nice might have been bad news for her too. French President Francois Hollande might have to stop thinking about his next hair appointment and France might even have to learn not to capitulate in it's traditional manner when being invaded. But, the Islamists are betting that they won't!!!
