DPN assures the public of safety in national parks nationwide

BANGKOK, 22 July 2016, (NNT) - The government has reassured the public about the safety of national parks nationwide.

Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) Thanya Netithammakun said that since 2011, the agency has joined hands with the National Institute for Emergency Medicine under a framework to provide emergency medical assistance to visitors of all 150 national parks across the Kingdom.

The DNP chief indicated that under the framework, the department and the institute had established six National Park Rescue Coordination Centers in each region of the Kingdom.

The centers are located in Bangkok in the Central Plains, Trat province in the East, Kanchanaburi province in the West, Phuket province in the South, Chiang Mai province in the North, and Nakhon Ratchasima province in the Northeast. Tourists who require assistance in the wild can contact one of the rescue coordination centers via the DNP's 24-hour hotline 1669.

Mr. Thanya stated that the DNP and the National Institute for Emergency Medicine regularly hold drills and workshops to educate and train officials, adding that they have recently organized an air rescue training operation in the national parks of Khao Yai, Nopparat Thara and Erawan.

Stopped going to Thai parks that double charge. They are not very good anyway.

Thai officials should visit Japan or the USA for hints on how real parks are operated and kept impeccably clean.
