No stability, prosperity, sustainability for country without reform: NLA Vice

ref.jpg

BANGKOK, 25 July 2016 (NNT) – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) Vice-President warns that the nation will not move towards stability, prosperity, and sustainability without reformation, urging the general pubic to study the draft charter by themselves.

The NLA Vice-President Surachai Liengboonlertchai, along with a Constitution Drafting Commissioner Pakorn Nilaprapan, have officiated a seminar to promote the contents of the new constitution, held by the constitution draft promotion subcommittee.

The NLA Vice-President has said the referendum allows the general public to directly decide on the country’s future, saying he personally believes the country’s stability, prosperity, and sustainability will not happen without reformation.

He has also urged the general public to read the content of the new constitution by themselves, as misleading information are now being circulated as the referendum date approaches.

On this occasion, the constitution drafting commissioner has said this new constitution was made from opinions of the general public, addressing many issues that Thailand is facing such as education, law enforcement, ethics in politics, and the low performance of government agencies. The public referendum will be an opportunity for the general public to help determine the country’s future.

And the biggest reform required is to the military who need to keep out of government and stop doing the same thing over and over and expect this time, there will be a different result.

But the military seem to be slow learners and as they say, its hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

It's 2 years since they seized power, what reforms have already been taking place?

Judiciary?

Police?

Military?

Road Safety?

It's simple stalling tactics, nothing more.

The big Hoo Haa about sorting out the mafia <deleted> too, yep, they did a splendid job down in Koh Tao and the other Islands down there.

They got lottery tickets and a few beaches cleared but the fan boys herald that as magnificent progress!! :o

Good morning Thailand. This is the first of many articles you will see toady and in the coming weeks reminding you to vote yes. Anyone who has a different opinion are deemed to be spreading misinformation and will be dealt with accordingly.

Have a nice day!

I see your old mate Toad of Toad Hall back is in the news again today. I am sure his pals Rat, Badger and Mole are not far away.

".....the nation will not move toward stability, prosperity and sustainability without reformation".

Truer words have never been spoken about Thailand.

Problem is the Nation has been programmed to have a special form of reformation by a quasi self-serving military government.

Unfortunately military governments are not well endowed with personnel of notable economic intelligentsia. The military by it's nature is more suited to controlling people by force.

They did give themselves section 44 Which provides them with total immunity and absolute power to control the people and tell them what to think, eat, how to dress and what information they can have access to.

so the answer for all Thailands problems according to you lot is to let it continue towards anarchy and civil war which is exactly where it was headed 2 years ago

It might actually be the only solution as most of the working democracies we see in the world today were the product of some sort of internal conflict that was so bad that the people decided for themselves they had enough of the killing

You overlook the reality that the chaos of pre coup Thailand was largely orchestrated by those who now hold power. In any event - though certainly a messy democracy - it was far from anarchy and civil war though this is what the architects of the coup would have liked.A small but telling example was the regular liaison between the embryonic Junta leadership and Suthep. It is possible as you suggest that Thailand's problems cannot be resolved other than by some form of catharsis which might well be tragic blood letting.I very much deplore it but history shows the way things will probably pan out.Let's hope the discredited old elites and the compliant Sino Thai middle class come to their senses.

well that is up to you to believe, as it happens I do not agree but either way things were escalating and it was stopped - Thaksins red terrorists were taking about sedition and had set up military style training camps in the north and were arming people.......some on here have very short memories, it was a very dangerous situation no matter how you try to spin it and all sparked off because Thaksin tried to forgive himself

Who voted this guy in? Oh yeah, oops.... missed that one.

"Choice" is similar to "Do you want to be shot or hung?"

"Thaksins red terrorists were taking about sedition and had set up military style training camps in the north and were arming people." Perhaps you missed part where Suthep's people prevented election, registration to vote or run, police were told to stand down by army and not enforce laws. Seems a bit of a stretch to claim party in power wanted to revolt against party in power....

You are talking nonsense.Certainly the ill considered umbrella amnesty was a foolish move but the democratically elected government was under siege from the beginning.Your reference to Thaksin's military style training camps and red terrorists places you firmly in tinfoil hat territory.

Incidentally you may not have noticed that the more intelligent critics of Thaksin do not resort to such silliness. They generally recognise that the present situation is infinitely more grave than the pre coup position. If one mixes truth and untruth as you do, the whole package is rejected.

No, it wasn't. The Suthep rabble were heading home and new elections were called. THEN the old elite stepped in.

"It might actually be the only solution as most of the working democracies we see in the world today were the product of some sort of internal conflict that was so bad that the people decided for themselves they had enough of the killing"

That might, unfortunately in the end be what will happen in Thailand, but to say that most working democracies today are a result of sort of bad internal conflict is,.....well, you would have to supply links regarding that.

You simply prove my point with your further nonsense about innocents being "routinely" slaughtered - on top of your idiotic comments about red terrorists and Thaksin's military training camps.Repeating lies does not make them true.

I am aware your views - though incoherent and prejudiced - are shared by many..But one does not find them repeated among the better educated or well informed, even among those who bitterly opposed the Shinawatra clan influence.

Well, we all know the real problems here. Simply put, Thailand has no real leaders, and especially no one with vision. The best that Thailand seems to be able to come up with are corrupt politicians, who are in it only to line their own pockets, and corrupt strongmen, who seize power at the barrel of a gun, who also seem intent on lining their own pockets.

Reforms? Unlikely as it would upset too many apple carts. The only reforms we have seen so far would seem to be the lottery. Oh yes, and a purge against their opponents.

The military are in just as much a need for reform as are the police. But after 2 years, what have we seen? Zilch.

This country is going backwards and I just do not see any hope of forward motion in the forseeable future.

I agree with you. There have been few leaders who could carry the country with them since 1932 and certainly none in the last 23 years that I know of.

I am sure that in Thailand there ARE people who are capable of running the country for the benefit of ALL of the people of Thailand without doing the usual "one for the country and one for me", but I am at a loss to know who and where they are, because Thailand really needs them now.

No doubt the families of the military, PDRC, royalists and others have done well under this new regime. The regime has spent much more than Yingluck and he brother did in all those years. Seems everyone just stopped totally the billions about a year and a half ago. Who benefited from all those train projects and debt the nation now has? Thailand needs accountability and this regime has shown zero. The people are in the dark and afraid to ask questions and most don't want to help the people who have stolen their government.

And after nearly 3 years of this reform mantra (first by the PDRC then by the army), they still have no precise idea of these so important reforms that are supposed to justify an unelected government.

If one mixes truth and untruth as you do, the whole package is rejected.

go look at the news stories at the time, perhaps they were talking nonsense - take it up with them

as for the other insults you posted - tinfoil hat ?? resorting to silliness

and you think the situation is "infinitely more grave now" really, I don't see innocent people (including children) being routinely slaughtered on the streets while the police were instructed by the sitting government to stand idle and let it happen and you have the cheek to call me silly.......like I said certain people like you with selective short memories, go take a phensic

Would you care to provide proof that the Government told the cops to stand aside and let it all happen, can you provide the Official statement of FACT to back this up?

I think you'll find that what was said to the Cops, don't interfere with the protests, as in let them run, don't antagonise the situation.

Pray tell me Smedley, where were your beloved Army during all these protests, and what were they doing, and under whose orders? ......yes they stood back as well, and they had bigger and better guns.

You lambast others about insults but there you are, hurling them around like you know better than everyone else.

Sticks and stones and all that, you're a right sensitive wee soul. You need a cuddle?

you do understand that it is the primary objective of a Civil Police force to serve and protect and not stand by when innocent people are being murdered on the streets unabaited, are you now trying to advocate military intervention ? I wish you'd make your mind up lol you seem a little confused

Au contraire, you're telling everyone that it was a fact that Yingluck told them to sit back and do nothing, I asked for proof, as in a statement of fact, not an assumption, you know, just like you keep demanding to see a Chain of Custody letter with regards to Koh Tao........well I'm asking you to provide the fact that Yinglucks Government were ordered to turn a blind eye, as you're claiming........Goose and Gander and all that wink.png

Now then, the Primary objective of a Police Force in the country you come from doesn't have the same Primary objectives as the one here does, you're making comparisons, like comparing cubic zirconia to diamonds.

But I will ask you again, the Soldiers deployed were done so to do what exactly? And under who's orders were they deployed, at a very early stage too I might add. Didn't they man ECP's all over the city, and they still didn't do anything either.

One might reason that they too were told to turn a "blind eye" and to let the attacks happen, collateral damage is no big deal to them, history tells us this.

The Military COULD have stepped in on many occasions, again they didn't. Why not? The military COULD have also forced the protestors OFF the streets, thus preventing them from being targets of opportunity for the undesirables, and let the elections take place, after all, wasn't you and your cohorts claims that the PTP were done, a spent force, and they lacked the support of the MAJORITY? A sure fire recipe for the Dems to actually WIN an election....but that didn't happen either.

The Army were complicit in the protests, and even Suthep himself said that it was all part of a plan that started as far back as 2011, you might say that's untrue, and lies, but Prayuth didn't threaten to sue for defamation, like he did about the alleged money in Singapore did he....why do you think that is?

So no, not confused at all, everything is perfectly clear, and it's all smoke and mirrors leading up to the event of the century.
