another example of quality. at my friend not long ago robbed your house. rent for 140 thousand baht. many cameras. the guards at the entrance of the village. even carried two sofas .. and no one has seen or knows anything .. how is this possible? I have to ask permission from the Hong Kong office of the village so that I could take out the old junk furniture.

This is very true. Even when some prices here are cheaper than elsewhere, the quality of service/product that you get is also often much less. The last three times my aircon was serviced (by two different companies) the job was incompletely done each time. So I may have paid only 500B instead of the 2000B (equiv) it would have cost me for one service in Europe, but I had to pay that 500B three times over and I still had an incomplete and crappy job done. This is just one example: there are many others.

One of the most inexpensive items in Thailand is the cost of labor. But this relates to a great many things, including food/restaurants (Thai), medical services, dental, car repair, laundry, construction, education, etc. And as someone else mentioned on another thread, mobile phone/internet services are quite cheap. Also, rent is dirt cheap in Chiang Mai...not sure about anywhere else.

We know what the expensive stuff are. It's mostly stuff that has to be imported. Other than that....
