Heya guys,

I'm in a bit of a pickle.

Has anyone gone to a doctor (or know of someone) and asked them to fake a sick note (is it called a medical certificate in this case)?

I have a major work conference coming up, but I have important personal reasons that I cannot attend it. And the best way is to get a doctor's note to hand in to my employer ASAP.

Anyone point me to the right direction? I know it's probably easy to walk into any old clinic, but would be best to have it from a more 'reputable' place?

Cheers!

Oh dear....tbh..not sure if the doc will write you one if you tell him bluntly that you need to buy a medical certificate. [emoji848][emoji51]

I want to know as well where can you find this type of service. It might come into handy for me in the future lol [emoji13][emoji1][emoji1]

A physician can lose their license if they knowingly participate in this type of collusion.

If you want to take this unethical and dishonest approach then it needs to be all on you.

You need to fabricate the reason and present this to the doctor as fact. You better do some Dr Google to make sure you know the real symptoms. You need to give the doctor plausable deniabilty.

hello! i'm a newbie here.

Yes i suppose most doctors may be hesitant to such unethical practice, because the gravity of the situation may cost them their license.

My advise would be to go for other options like a business or personal leave with your employer.

A flaming post has been removed.

I think the OP has been adequately answered:

  • do not expect or ask a doctor to lie for you
  • if you choose to lie to a doctor, that's your business
  • medical certificates are given on request by all hospitals for all doctor visits and diagnosis will generally reflect the medical complaint you reported
