For our tree experts - is there an apple variety suitable for CM climate?

Featured Replies

My son wants to add another tree to his fruit tree collection and the family voted for an apple tree.

Is it possible in the CM climate? If so, can anybody suggest a specific variety of apple, hopefully sweet and juicy.

Thanks.

you can grow those bell shaped red apples that the fruit carts sell in Mueang CM.  They can be prone to pests and disease.  I've seen some good pomegranates...consider them.

Having some experience growing apples in another country, I would suggest seeking a 'low chill' variety for the CM area...., also I'm guessing the higher the altitude the better for the CM region. You may already know these things...., good luck.

Check with the Royal Project Foundation in Chiang Mai. If any body knows it will be them. They are doing things that are unbelievable. Example the strawberries that are being gown were developed for Thailand by them and they are second to none.
