I've always thought that shop was some old expat's hobby; never see anyone in there and when I have had breakfast there, it was ghastly.

Maybe just leave the door open and let people self-serve, including the cooking.

I also like the F&Cs and mushy peas there.

I miss true British F&C shop type batter and chips but Kelly's is more than palatable.

Kelly's was good when it opened.

Then Rod (?) got into health foods, then he 'Vanished', the Wife took over and the usual Thai ideas were introduced.

Haven't been for several years and can't remember when I last had a report of quality F&C or decent mushy peas.

Better to order the deep sea Cod,than the Pangasius,

Fish and chips, mushy peas,2 slices of bread butter,

and a pot of tea, for Chiang Mai O.K.,without the real

Cod,Whiting and Haddock, and some really good chipping

Potatoes,I think it's the best at the moment, unless someone

knows different?

It's a pity there are no British style Chinese takeaways here.

I went to Kellys well over a year ago after hearing a lot of good reports on the place.  I had the Atlantic cod and chips, a bit more expensive but IMO a far better taste.

Out here in Mae Rim on the road that leads across to Mae Jo there is a great restaurant called 'My Back Yard'.  Now they serve a fantastic plate of fish and chips... sure its pangasius (Which I find to be a bit tasteless) but you get 3 large crumbed fillets and a good serving of chips for just 99 baht.  Only down side was they havent yet got malt vinegar, last time I took my own and showed the staff.  I believe now that they  know what it is they are going to get it in.  MBY is a great setting and they do both Thai and Western food.

Kelly's is a bit odd, I go there for breakfast from time to time and it's just OK, their F & C is not my cup of tea but when it's the only game around, what can you do.

Okhajui (sp) does a nice fish and chips, pangasuis I think but still very good, far too much for normal eaters to consume at one sitting, almost!

BTW I found an out standing Mexican rest., just brilliant but I'm not telling where, how cruel is that!!

it was O.K. at first when the owner was around. then he disappeared and quality went downhill. wouldn't go back again... really no better now than a number of other places but a much higher price tag. looks empty the last few times i passed by.
