Going to Phi Phi tomorrow think she's still so inclined.....?

The mind boggles why a Westerner who lives in Thailand would want to go to Koh Phi Phi to have oral sex with an American, it brings a whole new meaning to the term, sex tourism.

We are talking about tourists and pre marriage while here as a tourist...

Just cos u are married dude that doesn't stop your future visits here being as a tourist...this time with your wife.

Why would marriage negate you being a tourist if u don't live here?

See #57 ^^^^^ Right above here (your #58) for your answer......

What about low class expats ? They seem to be the worst.

It's going to be different things based on location, I've no doubt that the Pattaya crowd and the semi rural Chiang Mai crowd would likely never even get sight of each other. Having said that, many of the ex-Pattaya crowd are now resident in the North so who knows, or cares!

I think He was Irish - thus the urgency - not seriously in demand.......

Gotta strike while the iron is hot.....

before complaining about low class tourists, they should first worry about low class Thais - I don't have any beef with farmers and som tam vendors, but rather with the pondscum that are allowed to everyday take advantage of other people with impunity.

I was standing in line at immigration and struck up a conversation with a Man who was born in Thailand but now a US citizen who lived most of his lie in Hawaii. He came back to take over the family farm 8 months of the year. A Dutch woman behind us barged into the conversation telling us about her hubby (from the US) and then started berating US and Thailand non stop for 15 minutes while we were trapped in line. Some time the clothing does not tip you off. She is my choice for low class. A pleasant wife beater clad oaf would have been more welcome than her. Interesting fellow wish I could have enjoyed more conversation with him.

Why is low class tourism all about how a person looks?

Lots of low class tourists dress neatly and can string a sentence together

A low class tourist is here for paid sex ,boozing and maybe finding a wife they can buy

Sounds very much like your average wealthy Thai man to me. Seems your "low class tourist" would fit right in with my "HiSo Thai"

Let me come from a slightly different angle, my Chinese wife speaks fluently Chinese, English ,Russian and Thai she is the MD of two successful companies. When in Thailand , which is quite regular, we have agreed that we would not even consider eating out at certain areas , these include Pattaya, and certain Sukhumvit areas in Bangkok. This because these are the areas where the worst incidents occur.

there is nothing worse than trying to relax in a public domain to have your eardrums constantly  exposed to every profanity under the sun, and even more . Most of the time it's from trashly dressed foreigners who have no respect for their surroundings and the people there.

These guys treat  all Asian women as whores and I am sure there has been many a fracas caused by this .. But will it end no of course not, you cannot educate an idiot and most certainly a leopard cannot change its spots

I have a rule of law, which is probably due to my military background, I never leave home unless I wear decen trousers, shirt and shoes, no flip flops tatty shorts topless whatever.

In  my opinion ( wait for the incoming ) the low class are possibly badly educated and were never taught respect by their parents, and on top of that probably haven't worked a day in their lives and use benefits ....

I can never understand white people who seem to hate other white people.

Generally western white people (excluding slavs) are rather tolerant, law abiding, well behaved and polite when compared to the other races.

Sure they are

Absolutely top of the pile

Low Class to whom?

I think the Thai tourist business thinks they are those who simply don't spend much money, but from this angle they are not appreciating that many first-timers are student backpackers who might easily become tomorrow's high earners. Unfortunately, Thais of most persuasions see no further than today.

Not easy to define, but as most, I would say, I know one when I see one... behaving, badly - rude.

Poor manners in general. Cultural insensitivity, which would include walking the streets shirtless... or drunk.

Beat me to the punch. As has been stated, " I know it when I see it". Was that about art or porn...the later now illegal in Utah. Good entertainment coining watching the decisions and who makes those decisions. I seem to remember a U.S. Federal building ordered to cloth naked statues....

Geez, I bet that has been used in many different ways, many times - don't know much about art, but i know what I like, type stuff.... I have a vague memory of the statue thing too... though I have a more vivid memory of sitting in a restaurant at the beach [shirtless at the beach is fine] and a guy sitting at the table in front of me, between me and the sea view I had, and all I had in front of me was his hairy, mole infested back... so, kep the shirtless on the beach and put on a shirt for a restaurant visit...

I've travelled quite a bit, all over South East Asia, India, Phiipines and America including Canada, I've always found if you respect the people their culture and in a non English speaking country I always learn how to say please and thank you in the local dialect, I'm usually accepted as no threat and have a laugh with the locals, that goes a long way.
While saying that, I do try to travel cheaply and stay in clean but cheap accommodation. as has been mentioned... There's cheap accommodation and expensive accommodation - and most of the money in cheap accommodation will be paid to relatively poor people, as opposed to the wealthy that own the expensive accommodation. Does this make me a 'low class' traveller or someone who doesn't give a sh** what people look like but how they react with the locals and each other ?

... not to mention improve the scenery no end.

Just imagine Pattaya without the obligatory mid-life crisis, the beer bellied biker on a loud Harley with tats, pony tail and leather vest. The place would be soooo much nicer.

(sarcasm alert)

Erm, no, it'd be virtually empty. I've spent the last 3 months living in Pattaya. That is if one disregards the Indian, Chinese (by the busload), Russians etc who don't seem to have the same tendency to hang around in bars as falang.

The other thing being, low-class Baht is just as good as high-class Baht.

You obviously don't, but the amount of people posting do.

"who gives a flying f#*k"?  Going by that answer, it must be assumed that you are a very low class tourist or expat.

a complete undesirable.

Incorrect. I just don't care about other people's appearance or general behaviour. It's not my business if it does not affect me personally. Me; i expect people to treat me as i do them, polite, manners and respect. If i don't get any of that, you don't get any back. Times two.

I never have judged a book by it's cover, and still don't, but i know a vast majority of the world's population do.

Lived here 13 years, so no, not a tourist.

Correct, i must be a complete undesirable. Thanx.

After reading what you said, I actually agree with you, every single word, but you have to admit saying  "who gives a flying f#*k"? gives out the wrong message to the majority of Thaivisa members, who are as decent as you and me.

I use the same guest house every time I go to Pattaya, good AC, fridge, very clean, cannot fault it.

Also a very helpful UK owner, only 600 Bt per night.

Hope that does not make me a low class expat.

Are you an expat or a tourist? Do you have a Work Permit?

I comment on going to Pattaya.

Many point the finger at backpackers but the fact is, if it weren't for these adventurous kids, you'd probably be sitting in a bar with a half pint and a nip, thinking abut placing 50p on a tricast accumulator so you can survive the winter without wearing a hat in bed.

Not an orgone acumulator btw lol

I am not an expat as I was never patriotic to the UK or Scotland.

Why do you ask if I have a work permit, I want an answer to this.

A wise person once said....."if you have nothing good to say about a person....then better to say nothing at all".

Another said...." we don't see things as they are,,,,we see them as we are."

A quote that is undeniably true.

But human nature means that we ALL make disparaging remarks every  now and again :(.

I'm not keen on many tourists/expats who behave badly/ridiculously - according to my own personal definition.

But living in a tourist area I can think 'really?' (to myself) about most things.  Its when they rent a scooter and try to imitate the way locals drive that I get really bad tempered!

Cigarette smokers are low class people/tourists. They are stupid, inconsiderate ,oblivious and obnoxious. I have a birds eye view of about 6 hotel balconies and its amazing that over 95% always have the guests smoking cigarettes *. And of course while standing out front waiting for transportation - smoking. By " looks" the white males have a low class look. The other major cigarette smoking group (tourists) are the Korean males. It looks like about 90% of Korean males are cigarette  smokers.

Over all  would estimate about 80% of tourists to Pattaya smoke and that is above the average for any country.

By the way, you would notice that for any other of the above definitions and behaviors of what constitutes a low class tourist: Notice that the common denominator is a cigarette smoker.

* If you are a non smoker in a hotel and you want to step out on the balcony for some fresh air, forget it.
