If you research this topic (peripheral neuropathy) on the Internet, especially at pubmed.gov and at the diabetes websites like Mendoza.com or Dr. Bernstein.com, you find a huge difference between what Americans and Europeans prescribe. I just bought Alpha Lipoic Acid because it is prescribed in Europe. The U.S suggest taking Vitamin B-12. Every country says lower bad fats and increase the good ones like salmon, sardines, avocados, olive oil and avocado oil. Bernstein says limit carbs to 6 for breakfast, 12 for lunch and 12 for dinner. Drat! 30 carbs per day! And I love buying iced coconuts. Well, coconut water is 45 carbs so I guess I can cheat a bit and drink 1/3 of the water every day at breakfast for 3 days. When I go to On-kha-ju for lunch I'll have to order steamed fish. Rats! However, stabbing pains in my feet and numb toes are even more horrifying. I get a foot and leg massage almost every day plus swim 2 hours every morning.
