Police chief suspects bomb and arson attacks are politically connected

BANGKOK:-- The national police chief said today (Friday) that the spate of bomb and arson attacks in seven southern provinces in the past few days – most of them on Thursday night and today – were politically connected.

Pol Gen Chakthip Chaichinda told a press conference today that all the incidents took place after the August 7 referendum and most of them took place in provinces where people voted in support of the draft constitution in the referendum.

Meanwhile, Lt-Gen Tesa Siriwatho, commissioner of the 8th regional police bureau, noted that the arsons at Khao Lak in Takua Pa district of Pha-nga and Ao Nang in Krabi occurred almost simultaneously while the bomb explosions at Patong beach in Phuket and in Surat Thani took place one after another almost simultaneously and they were both detonated with similar mobile phones.

He suggested that the spate of bomb attacks in Trang, Surat Thani, Phuket and Hua Hin were perpetrated by the same group of people bent on creating chaos in tourist destinations, especially during long holidays.

Well that is starting to become a no brainer.

To err is human (Unless your a red supporter who are never wrong) . I was wrong about the Eriwan shrine suspects. I hope I am wrong here too because if I am right we will see a lot more deaths by minority red terrorists.

I strongly support the majority here and I am confident they will  not be swayed by this violent minority groups causing death and fear in Thailand.

If these horrible crimes are supposedly politically motivated the question could be asked,    probably not here though,    why were the authorities not prepared  ?

Thai officialdom loves to project the image of being on top of everything so didn't they consider the possibility of some sort of backlash after the referendum.

After incidents like this in western countries it doesn't take long before the media and politicians are asking if it was a question of an   '  intelligence failure  '   but I can't see the media here asking or suggesting such a thing.

As far as i can read you are wrong in pretty much everything you speculate on, i would of presumed you would be used to it now. If you say one thing, history dictates that in all probability the complete opposite is true.

NCPO spokesman says security forces pursuing those behind explosions
Itiporn  Lakarnchua

BANGKOK, 12 August 2016 (NNT) – A spokesperson for the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has urged the public to remain confident in the government and has given an assurance it will not allow those of ill-will in this matter to go unpunished.

NCPO spokesman Col Winthai Suwaree, addressing the series of explosions across the nation, expressed his belief that society will condemn the acts while calling for confidence in the government’s ability to resolve the situation and bring the culprits behind the disruption to justice. He characterized the actions of those behind the explosions as self-serving and reckless and conveyed condolences from the NCPO to those affected.

He made known authorities have been ordered to aid anyone injured and to expedite investigations into the incidents.

The NCPO’s security force has been dispatched to work with police and residents of the explosion areas to implement security measures with its agents urging the public to pass on any information they may have.

<removed> You don't hope you are wrong at all. You desperately, hysterically hope you are right.

Either that or you don't care either way and are simply trolling.

I knew they would say that,....:clap2:

If only the police had sweeping powers to search and arrest without a warrant, they could catch these guys.

Maybe they should ask the military for such powers.

Not even close. And just wait until after they confiscate rice scam funds from YL. Then the real wet-work begins just like in 2010 with men in black etc after they confiscated 46 billion of Thaksin's ill gotten gains. But for some on here constantly defending Thaksin, it seems almost like a full time job....

Either foreigners, or people who have been alienated by the junta's single-minded refusal to pursue any real reconciliation in this country.

Alienated by the junta ? That's a long list, and does not only contain red shirts :D

Right, a bit like all of those junta fanboys trying to talk what is most definitely wrong right.

Pot kettle black.

I am still waiting for factual evidence that the red shirts or Thaksin are behind this. I very much doubt they are, as there is no incentive, time is on their side. Let's face it, the Junta has made so many enemies, there is a long list of potential bombers. Did Prayuth chase another minority back to China lately ?

"... time is on their side..."

Is that a confirmation they are waiting in the wings to get back to raping the country?

"... the Junta has made so many enemies, ..."

Well what would you expect, he's trying to get a lot of things back to an acceptable situation as in a civil society, therefore he has enemies - the folks who don't want change because it interrupts their chance at the trough. Not rocket science.

That's where he went wrong. Should have said it once and clicked his heels 3 times... easy mistake to make.

He's not in Kansas any more - eh Toto?
