Hebephilia  actually.

Actually I would say ephebophilia is a more accurate term. People should learn the difference between the 3 terms instead of constantly accusing everyone of being child molesters. According to the orginal report, they found ONE 16 yr old and ONE 17 yr old so not sure where the "15 year olds" fit into this? Those who go to the so-called farang bars might be shocked to know how many under 18's there are working there. Just because they tell you "me 19 year ohh" doesn't always make it so.

It's obvious the owners have no real wealth or connections. They will be good examples for the authorities. I just see all justice in Thailand as hypocrisy. Even with this supposedly anti-corruption regime in power, the connected, powerful and wealthy get a free pass. The law isn't the law for all.

you make it sound like it only happens in thailand

They authorities have fired the opening shot let the negotiations begin. These bar owners may have been targeted because of their flagrant disregard for the law an easy target. The flavor of the month. Maybe the brown envelopes overall were getting to skinny and it was time make an example of some to pass the message on to the many. A financial tuneup so to speak. The BIB have made their point and I think all and sundry get the message. Even though the government claims there is no inflation in the country I think the BIB is trying to convince their flock otherwise. They also are telling one and all you do not want to be at the end of that pointed finger in the photo

A "rate adjustment" is what it's called.

YOU GUYS BLOW MY MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:w00t:

Everyone on here is whining and moaning about how the cops are corrupt and not doing their job.

Without knowing all the fact but most of the important ones you scream that it will hurt tourism.

The PETTINESS of your arguments and whines is unbelievable.

These bars along Suthisan are Thai bars not in a tourist area at all really.

They cater to Thai's  (yes I have been there)

Thailand is getting B!tch slapped by the US UK and UN about child prostitution, abuse of migrants, corruption.

These bars did not get closed for the minor offences they were charged with Hell I will agree you can see nudity  it a lot of bars.  The way that the girls move or don't move on stage it is sometimes the only thing that makes it worth while.

What they got hammered for was the fact that some of the employees were drastically under age and not just for working int he bar but the bar was promoting underage sex with the Thai gentlemen.

Will these guys get charged? who knows.  What I do know and enjoy is the fact that the police and military are putting out the BEWARE SIGNS that they will slap you no matter how much money you pay if you cross a line.

CONGRATS TO THE POLICE FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!!!

Ruining Thailand's great reputation as the sex tourism hub !

Sounds more like they're giving the BIB "something interesting to do" to relieve their boredom and get some brownie points from the General.

They would be better dealing with important issues such as:  corruption, education, road safety, electrical safety, etc etc etc

These 2 places are 100 % local Thai middleclass establishments and has nothing to do with farang sex tourism.

There is at least 50 more in the metro Bangkok area that operate the same way and with same staff composition  i.e.

at least 50% burmese, lao, hmong, karen, mon etc

No reason to salute the police for welldone job, ask yourself why they only hit 1-2 or appx 50-100 establishments ?

Thai men are unfathomable….I once walked into a gogo in soi cowboy with one of them….drives around town in a Hummer with an ex gangster for chauffeur/bodyguard.

As we walked in I saw a girl who couldn't have been more than 12 at the cash register…i thought it was the mama sans kid or something.

Anyway, he said something to the mama in thai and they exchanged a smile. Our other friend who spoke thai told me that he had told mama to reserve the girl for him and he would send the car for her later.

This guy is a frikkin multi millionaire, very respectable hi-so type and married to one of the most respected khunyings in the capital.

There are under age girls there, would you all be so unconcerned if it was your daughter? Where do you think these girls come from? Who really runs these joints?

No one knows who you are talking too.

Why?  Maybe because they don't have all the information that you do have about the other 50 bars and are holding back.  Why don't you report them if your information is so good?

Literally dozens of bars, massage, karaoke and etc throughout the area.....let alone the hundreds of others in the rest of BKK.......and they pick 2......!

Exactly. This horse-and-pony show isn't fooling anyone. Why they even bother to publicise it and bring ridicule to themselves (again!) is beyond comprehension. Let's see them do some damage on some outlets in Cowboy and Nana. And as you said, all the other establishments in the area. Then that may just show they really do mean business with this 'crackdown'.

is naked gogo dancing now not happening in any gogo bars in Thailand?  Gosh, nothing against bikinis, but that other stuff can be pleasant to sit back and watch while having a beer or two?  I mean many people go there on vacation and to look see

There a few in Soi Cowboy but none (supposedly) in Nana or Patpong.  Pattaya is the place to go if you want nudity.

When the RTP would raid 'karaokes', they'd find many more underaged girls, but fat chance, as these are places many of them spend their evenings at, drinks and girls for free...

'Supposedly', oh my, the hypocrisy, none at Nana (mild, but yes) or Patpong (hard, and yes), is it, what a joke?! Been there, seen that, not my thing though, most of those, pornographic, shows are so bad, low and disgusting, all but arousing to me.
