Oh, the ignorant do make fools of themselves.

It's your ignorance that they feed off.

Here's a few things to consider, have a dispassionate think if you can...

How many times would she have won, without their input?

Play enough times, and odds are you will win sometime, not big, but win nonetheless.

For your one good luck story, how many duds are there?

I once saw two identical cars driving next to each other, with their number plates differing by one digit...wow...must have been a sign! Noooo...it will happen, one time in a large number, and for that one near guaranteed time, it might seem like something special to the accidental observer, but it's not, is it. Think about all the times people do not see this scenario...nobody makes a mental note of non-events.

It's all about something called probability, and the foolish human emotional brain that does not see through the mystic fog of hoping to be someone special.

Sorry to dissappoint.

If you can truly get your brain around the relevant maths, you'll see how foolish all this mystic nonsense is.....☺

Your view point is just down right nasty,  :bah:  if many Thai people and my Mrs do things they like even if it's out of curiosity and are happy doing it does it really matter that much,  it don't bother me in the slightest and as for disappointment it's never that serious.

My brain is perfectly OK thanks l think it's you that needs a lie down in the dark.

In Africa, I once watched a guy dowsing for water whilst i drank beer and laughed at his stupidity. 24 hours later there was a functional well at the exact spot that he had dowsed. Go figure.

He found the shallowest place to dig.

And it's not only peasant folks who believe in this...When Thaksin was still in power! I remember he had to take a important and quick decision for the finances of the country !... and he waited a couple of days because he's fortune teller said it was a unlucky day.......

Before we laugh at Thais with their monks and fortune tellers, we should bear in mind Western society has plenty of astrologers, mystics and diviners. Many publish in the daily media.

Credulity is everywhere. Only the realists accept their fortune lies with their own decisions.

Hang on buster, you attempted to justify this mystical rubbish by taking what you thought was a rational approach, paraphrasing: "It worked three times so must be true".

I replied with the correct rational argument.

You then reply with the purely emotive argument, paraphrasing: "Its ok for people to do it out of curiosity", and adding that I'm nasty for giving an argument crunching reply, saying its nasty.

Well matey, you cant switch tack like that.

As for " if many Thai people and my Mrs do things they like even if it's out of curiosity and are happy doing it does it really matter that much, " ... well unfortunately many do it for more than just curiosity, and some do it for some very serious "decisions", and influence millions of lives because of it....erm...take the OP as an example!! Telling someone he's going to die in a few days.

What you do is your own business, but if what you do impacts on others then its their business too.

If fortune tellers blurb sways peoples thinking and actions, in important ways, that has knock on effects, then I am sorry buddy, but we need to slam dunk this one don't we. Gotta dump all over it, with the rational arguments I am afraid Bob.

I hope the brain can handle it, and not get upset by the cold hard facts and rational unbreakable arguments.

I am predicting a long and popular thread, some humorous observations, some Thai bashing, some sharing of personal experience.

2,000 Baht thanks

(lottery numbers, additional fee)

Yah.  Here's mine.  Went with a Thai friend to see her FT.  What the hell? Let's see what she tells me.  Do you have a MB?  'Yes.'  'You will have an accident!'  'Are you married?'  'No.'  'You will get a girlfriend!'  Etc.  I laughed in her face.  Told my Thai friend she was wasting her money.  To no avail of course.   My friend's Thai wife gets her lotto numbers from the FT.  She insists she wins.  I asked him how much she has won and lost.  Won hundreds and lost thousands.  Oh well.  TIT.  Get used to it.

If it didn't bother you, then why comment to start with?

I've been living here for a long time matey - I think I mix with a broader range of Thais than you obviously do - from those who are rational to those who are more like you, irrational and deep into the mystic meg fake world.

Enjoy your limited think space.
