There is a lot involved, trips to your embassy, translation of documents etc, Google is your friend. There are some well written step by step guides.

The main thing is original, not photo copy, of any divorce/death certificate. To be copied and certified at Consulate.

As I now find myself in a situation, I advise getting a pre nup agreement with the spouse. I didn't because I thought we would be together always, but people change.

The biggest hassle for me was getting the embassy letter and I believe the UK embassy is a rip off. Certainly was when I got married. The actual legal side in the Thai office is VERY simple and easy.

Not sure what good a pre nup agreement would be in this country because a pre nup is to protect what you have before marriage and in a Thai divorce this is not counted anyway, only what is accrued during a marriage....??? Just my thoughts.

^^ Pre nup in Thailand,

I believe you just each make a list of your personal assets and money, so there is no disagreement in case of a divorce.

I believe that's the best use of a prenup.
