That is absolutely WRONG. It shows how disingenuous you are. The standing ovation was for the singer. Trump turned to her and said 'thank you that was great, you have real talent', people were clapping and yelling FOR HER then they stood up. It was NOTHING to do with Trump. They all then sat down and remained seated while Trump read an entire script, eyes down. Not his normal style is it? He was uncomfortable there because he hates them and he knows they hate him. All his normally confident body language was gone. ! zero nada! Keep spinning Boon Mee, you must be dizzy by now.

It annoys me a bit that there are words that non-blacks are not allowed to use, ever, whereas the same words are used willy-nilly by blacks.  The banner word in that category is, of course, 'nigger'.  If people could see beyond the tips of their noses, they would see that; the more the word is bandied around, the less incendiary it would become.  Examples: The words 'naughty' 'bloody' 'damned' and 'bugger' used to be very bad.  Now they're routine and no big deal.

 

What about an albino black person using the n-word?   Or a Sri Lankan, who is much darker skin than any African-American?   .....or a super tanned dark as Swiss chocolate Frenchman of Moroccan ancestry?   Are there any words that are forbidden to be used by black folks?  No.

 

On my own, I use the n-word.  Who, reading this knows whether I'm a white American, black, East Indian, or what.  You would want to know my ethnicity or what I look like - in order to gauge whether I'm allowed to use that word.  Isn't that weird?   ....having to know what a person looks like in order to pass judgement on whether they're allowed to use a certain word?

 

My dad, who was born in the 1st decade of the 20th century, sometimes used the word 'nigress.'   It would crack me up.  It sounded so quaint.  Actually, he was very attracted to certain black women, as I am also.

 

And then there are the accepted categorizations for ethnicity.  For example, Barack is called black, but he's no more black than he is white.  Also (and not many people know this): Bob Marley's father was a white man from the UK.   OJ has lighter skin than I do.   Does that give me the right to use the n-word?  You see how ridiculous it all gets?

My hotel gym played a rap song every morning froma black artist that must have used the word "nigger" over 100 times. It would play each morning on the sound track and ai would actuslly walk outsode to get away from it. But other rap tunes would also use it as well.

 

Please no one tell me how offensive this word is tot the black community because these ar popular artists.

It's at least gotta be more productive than the 'listening tour' that promised New Yorkers numerous jobs, but delivered pretty much zilch. If black America could get out from under the oppressive blanket of democratic peer pressure and social compliance habits forced on them from paid/corrupt community leaders, they would learn that those who have traditionally represented them are not only their biggest oppressors in the present, they have been black America's greatest enemy for over a 150 years.

        Though you're responding to a post by CC, I'll jump in.  I can picture a world where most people are not offended by words.  I know it's a long stretch, as nearly everyone has words which sound offensive to them (personally, and/or to the groups they identify with).  ....Yet it is psychologically possible.  I'm an example of very few people (perhaps 1/100th of 1%) who don't get offended by any attempted slander/words/inference.  Even Thai monks or Christian pastors can't claim that.  Black folks (who aren't black color btw) chose that appellation for themselves, so that's what we call them.  It's the least offensive (to them) appellation for them.  It was 'negroes' and then the word was 'colored' for awhile.  I think the word colored is a lot more accurate, because 'blacks' can range in skin color from pink (albinos) on through every chocolate color to nearly black, like some Sri Lankans.   The word 'white' for a group is also silly, as the people in that category can range from yellowish skin-tone, to pinkish (I have a 'white' friend whose face is always reddish), ....to cafe-au-lait brown like Algerians or Inuits.  

 

       It's very much about trends.  In 60 years, dark-skinned people may take great offense at being called 'black,' ....and the prescribed word then might be 'tan.'   So, if you went in a time machine to the year 2076 and saw an African-American and referred to him as 'black' it might offend him as much as if you called his great grandfather (living today) negro or colored.
