"Such a foul mouth," PM Prayuth Chan-ocha jokingly points to his mouth as he sang the verse from a pop song with reporters today at Government House.

BANGKOK — Junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha, who was appointed prime minister by his appointed parliament two years ago, had a lot of hopes and ambitions to share Thursday.

In a wide-ranging speech to commemorate his cabinet’s two years in power, Prayuth said Thailand has a stronger economy, more social equality, improved safety and general welfare. So good are the indicators, he said, his regime’s achievements could steer the nation toward First World status after his tenure ends.

PM reports on govt’s two-year performances and varied measures to solve problems

BANGKOK, 15 September 2016 (NNT) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha reported on the government's performances over the last two years, saying short-, medium- and long-term measures had been laid out to solve problems.

Despite difficulties from within the country and without, the government has made achievements in political, economic and social issues while unrests in three southern border provinces have declined, the premier said.

The national economy has continuously expanded and the investment climate has improved whereas Thailand is viewed as one of the least miserable countries, the premier said.

He said the government is yet to move forward under Thailand 4.0 policy and to make the country better prepared for changes in the world.

That's it; he's lost the plot.

I don't think there is an emoji that can express the level of laughter that would be needed to comment on this...

But is it funny or actually really quite troubling?

I'll see your amnesty bill and raise you a Bangkok in flames...

So his tenure ruling is indefinite then?

The baht is high and over inflated, exports are down, more thai households are in debt and unemployment is on the rise along with many other things.  Numnuts prayuth smiles and waves at his Subjects and says how magnificent he is.

...................And then we blew him to tiny pieces!

Rambled on for 5 hours and then refused to answer journalists questions. The same journalists then join him for a sing song. No wonder that smirk is so wide with absolutely nobody to hold him to account.

at least he hasn't done a Kim - who executes or imprisons all the sing-alongs, including the ex girlfriend singer

and in the photo - one of the Generals isn't smiling-along .....

I read the news report linked to above so I get the gist of what the PM said but obviously I don't exactly what he waffled on about for 5 hours. Given that household debt is at a nine-year high according to the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), I think Prayuth's speech was the modern day equivalent of  'Let them eat cake'.

"...steer the nation toward First World status after his tenure ends."

Somehow I don't see the conversation going like...The U.S.A., Great Britain, Germany,  France and Thailand.

I am now starting to feel sorry for the poor man. Heaven knows what an embarrassment he must be to his rich and famous friends.

Totally cringeworthy.

What has his regime really achieved? Not much. The south is still very rebellious, slavery still exists, martial law is still in place, the police carry on as usual, corruption is still rampant, the justice system is a mess, education is a farce, the economy is "troubled", exports are declining, ordinary people are in serious debt,  etc.

But I noticed that soldiers have become very arrogant lately, they now realize that they have more power than even the cops, and they don't care about hassling foreigners either.

That's a pretty comprehensive list. Except you neglected to mention the whole arena of censorship of news media and ordinary citizens, arrests for speech opposing the official line and/or the recent Constitution referendum, police bringing criminal defamation actions against those who criticize their performance, arrests for public protests and political speech, bans on political gatherings, etc etc etc.
