What Is The Best Way To Find A Job?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm 27 years old, I'm a lawyer specialised in intellectual properties and business laws,I'm also trade-mark agent, and also, I'm vice-president of a company in the field of rental, sales and distribution of cult, independent and asian movies. I have two nationalities, French and Canadian. I'm living and working in Canada. I speak french and english. And, yes I don't speak thai, vietnamese or any languages from South asia, unfortunately, but I really want to learn.

I want to work in South Asia. I'm lookin to stay there from one year to up to 5 years. I like asian culture, and i'm more interested to go there to learn new languages and cultures than for money, since I have already a good job and can find easily very high paid job in my country.

I'm not looking for a job in the legal department. If I find a job, I would come with enough money to stay there a certain time without working, but I would prefer to work as soon as possible.

Furthermore, I'm not looking for 100 000 baht a month, but the "minimum" to stay, eat and have a certain social life. From all countries in South Asia, it seems Thailand is the most developped and the it,s probably the easiest one to find a job.

So I try to find the best way to get a job in Thailand. But, I'm a bit confuse. I know you must have a permit. It's natural. But where is the best to start lookin for a job? Do I need to go to Thailand as a tourist and try to find a job there, then ask a permit? Is it better to find a job in thailand by Internet from canada and wait to get the permit? If you prefer, I want to know how it work in practice, not in theory.

can you help me find the best way to search and hopefully find a job?

Also, I know that teaching jobs are popular in Asia. Yes, I would be glad to teach french, but i'm quite uneasy to teach english, because it's not my mother tongue and I dont speak or write it as well as a native speaker. And i'm not sure french is very popular in Thailand, but maybe more in ex-frecnh colonies like Vietnam and Laos.

Thank you for your help,

Philippe

through my own experience i would say it's very difficult especially in my branche (IT). Applying from the net will probably bring you no reply what so ever. Applying here you certainly got a litlle bit more chance. Teacher jobs are more available then other jobs but they not pay that well.

To be able to work you need a non-immigrant visa (B, O) , more details ask MR Pat Pong. No work permit possible without that visa.

In practise the company will start on your application for the permit while you start to work. Legaly you need the permit before you can work. Be carefull many company's Don't want to do this red tape and keep you stringing on.

there are also money requirements on wages ect. do some searches on this forum and you'll find all the info.
