I am sponsoring my Thai stepdaughter to America. Her mother will fly back to Thailand with a round trip ticket to attend the interview with her daughter at the embassy in Bangkok.

They will fly back to America together I hope. I would like to know the best way to purchase a ticket for my stepdaughter so she can fly together with her mother to America.

I already know the difficulties in trying to purchase a ticket for my wife.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Has the Consular interview already been scheduled?  All paperwork already done with USCIS for an Immigrant Visa?

Is the step-daughter under 18?  If so, Mom can attend the interview, of not, only the youngster"

No, petitioners are not permitted to attend the interview. Applicants should be familiar with all of the documents they are presenting at the interview, and be able to provide the consular officer with all requested information.

An exception is made for immigrant visa applicants under the age of 18 who may be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

As to the plane ticket, one option might be to wait to be sure that the Immigrant Visa is approved by the Consulate here.  The order up the plane ticket, plus doing a change of reservation for your wife, and paying the resulting FEE for doing so.
