connecting car radio to speakers advice needed

Featured Replies

My Alpine car radio has a standard set of wiring connectors, is in good working order as I have just removed it from my other car, which had front and rear speakers, the radio playing through these with balance left right front rear and so forth.

My Suzuki Caribian only has an overhead set of speakers in one housing, with grey, grey and black, white, and white and black, wires, have connected the same matching coloured wires  from the radio to the speakers, but no sound, the radio is turned on, same with memory stick.

Could you please advise on what is the correct wiring, this would be much appreciated.

Regards Tom

From what you say I would assume the grey and the white would be left and right and the ones with the black trace would be the corresponding negatives

What model is the stereo, maybe look for a wiring diagram online.

Hi, I do have a wiring diagram, but the layout out is different on the speakers, but the reply from lantern has given me a clue about what to do, although his suggestion does not work. The grey and white is correct, but it must be one of the other pairs which need to be connected to the speaker wires.

Will try again Monday to try and solve the problem.

Thank you.

Regards Tom

Hi, thank you for the info, problem solved, the cables to the  speakers was not allowing the information to be sent from the radio.

Have used this speaker cable before, without problems.

Regards Tom
